    Really?

I thought it was Sporting Chicken Goujons but they may not have been able to get them...
  • What the hell does that mean.....in the nicest possible way ?

ross my dear chap.....Are you saying we 'have' arranged a friendly with Bilbao or that we are 'trying' to arrange a friendly with them or that you 'personally' would like a friendly with them or that we 'tried' to arrange one but didn't succeed or finally that Bilbao are the 'preffered' choice for a number of other clubs?
I'm a bit thick you see!
  • was meant to be Sporting Gijon, recently promoted to La Liga, but Bilbao a better team and well established La Liga side.

  • Charlton Life - first with the news as usual !!
  • I wonder what year it will be on our OS
  • Why is the OS so reticent to divulge information like this? like the proposed trip to Spain. No confirmation of any games despite various sites saying we're in some tourny with Marbella, Malage & Iran. My gfriend lives in Marbella so I'm waiting to book my flights (despite it being behind closed doors). Anyone know any info about this?

Maybe the OS waits until games have been confirmed.

So why is it already on the Bilbao site?
  • edited July 2008
Maybe cos their OS don't wait until games have been confirmed.

Bit like Southend's OS saying they had signed James Walker before he done his, to be failed, medical and Huddersfield's OS telling everyone that Phil Parkinson was their new manager when he hadn't accepted the job.

because they didn't wait until it was confirmed?
  • And why Henry has it not been confirmed when we're going out there in the next couple of weeks? Leaving it a bit late aren't we if we haven't arranged anything or are we gonna just gonna play the local waiters if we cannot sort summink out!

Didn't we do the same with John Aloisi or am I imagining it?

And if the club announce something and it then changes will you promise not to complain or moan that the club can't even organise a overseas tour or that you've spent a fortune on flights and will now miss the game or that you went all the way out there and it was behind closed doors and no one would let you in despite it being on the OS.

[cite]Posted By: stop shouting[/cite] If we did it was a long, long time ago.

The guys who write the OS get frustrated as well. They knew Paddy was going to Palace and had the story ready to run only to find in the morning that Warnock had given an interview to the SLP saying it was happening. What can they do? They are told to wait until the deal is actually done and paperwork registered as until then it's not a done deal. But then they see their story scooped by someone else.

You can't see me but i'm pulling a face and going 'ooooooooooooohh' at you and i will remind you of this when the game goes ahead!
  • Didn't say if it was going ahead or not. Just that nothing had been confirmed ; - )
  • Fair play Henry & you're always going to back up the club & understandably so. My point is that why does the club have to make everything so clandestine. This is a friendly for gawd's sake. It's like whenever we sell or sign someone, it's on the other clubs OS before ours. As I said, I understand the Dep Marbella friendly is going to be behind doors so it's not open to supporters anyway. If I decide to go, that's a matter for me. I just wish the club would be a bit more forthcoming with information than they are & this is another example of information not being released to the fans.

    Gracias amigos, buen juego
  • Both Friendlies in Spain are behind closed doors hence that's why no news on Official site. They are going to Cadiz on the 14th & returning on the 24th. Iran is one of the Friendlies.
  • Do you think the South Stand will be open for the Seville game ?

Looks like Colchester know something about this (last sentence) - somebody from the club better tell Pardew to get the players there on the day or we might have to get a side together - bagsey not in goal:

Colchester United will host Athletic Bilbao in their first match at the new Community Stadium.

The Spanish giants will visit the U's new ground on 4 August.
They will feature in the first ever match to be played at the 10,000 seater stadium which replaces Colchester's Layer Road ground.
Colchester spokesman Matt Hudson told BBC Essex: "We've been looking for a big name and with Bilbao being in England to play Charlton it's ideal."
  • OS site is now becoming a bit of a joke on this one.
  • PMSL.....Thunder stolen by Colchester United..........LOL
