Rubbish away fixtures

edited June 2008 in General Charlton
Not impressed at first glance.

Doncaster, Palace, Ipswich, QPR and Reading, all potential good days out, and all midweek.

Blackpool and Norwich, both in December :-(

    Both Palarse games midweek :(
I'll book those days off for Doncaster now :)
  • Doesn't look good AFKA

Doncaster and Palace the key disappointments for me

still Watford away early isn't bad, a good day out, lots of pubs on the high street
  • thats awful.
  • agreed about Watford, should be decent that one.
  • Whats all this Home Home Away Away Home Home

Thats not fair on us fans its should be Home, Away, Home , Away.
  • Particularly miffed about Donny and Norwich Away. Wanted to get another boat out of for Norwich. Might need an Icebreaker.
  • I don't know what's worse - last year having silly games like Hull, Burnley, Cardiff, Bristol midweek, Preston late k/o etc.

    OR

being a lot closer like Reading, QPR, Palace, but missing out on the "day out" factor...

all I know is I'm proper gutted about Palace, just sitting here thinking about missing it probably both times is doing my head in!

fixtures day has definitely got me into the new season
  • Then again, apart from Donny we dont have any stupid midweek away games like Hull last season.
  • Look on the bright side, evening games are well known for having better atmospheres. It will be good if we take big followings to palace qpr etc...

  • strange having two home games in a row. good to be at home on the last day of the season though. don't like xmas......playing on boxing day and then 2 days later on sunday!
  • gotta say for me they are blinding,it's easier for me to go away games mid-week and as they are all local keeps the cost down.
  • 4 home games in a row.....friendly, swansea, carling cup against yeovil and then reading all in 3 weeks
  • What a load of sh*t!!

Donny and Palarse away and Blackpool in December!! That is taking the pi$$ for me I am gutted!

Plus we are going to have taffs in their 1000's roaming around SE7 on the first game of the season!

Lets make sure we sell the ticket allocation in the correct way otherwise we will have them on all four sides of the ground!
  • Why dont we petition the club and tell them we should be consulted about the fixtures we like and dont like before they are released to ensure we get what we want?

  • Both palace games have really pissed me off.
  • [cite]Posted By: Barn Door Lisbie[/cite]Both palace games have really pissed me off.

Although lets look at the positives, the atmosphere is always better at midweek games, plus for the away we'll get to take London Bridge after work.

Watford away is sandwiched between Yeovil and Reading so three in a row at home
  • palace & qpr away midweek could be great, book a half day at work.

Blackpool in december sucks but atleast it isn't midweek!

Cardiff on a saturday removes alot of excuses!

As an aside... why exactly have our Palace derbies been deliberately moved to a midweek? I don't even understand why they want the harder task of spotting trouble in the dark?!

    Are they any worse than...

    Swansea - Cardiff
    Forest - Derby
    Norwich - Ipswich
    Shef W - Shef U

all are currently scheduled (although they will probably be made early kick offs) for Saturdays.

    Gits!
  • ho dear, just realised we coudl be away for palace at home! dearie me think there could be some heated discussion befor this gets booked.

    just noticed that
  • Have been holding booking Vegas for early November just in case it was Blackpool away seen it's Plymouth away instead ..happy to miss that one !

Some of you lot will never be pleased with what we have got :-)
  • For those of us doing the half-marathon, Ipswich at home the day before will be the game we have to avoid the booze !
  • Forest away in September is a cracker,as is Derby away in April.
  • Actually, my initial disappointment has subsided if i'm honest. The midweek local ones will work out fine.

Just disappointed that the two i hadn't been to last year, Hull and Cardiff, were midweek and the same has happened this year with Donny. Ipswich is a shame as well as we had such a perfect pub venue for the coach.
  • Ok boys and girls can these 2 be added to our lifers on tour fixtures for this year book the day off get on the eye lash all day and then go to the match we could do it by train Dont be scared they will attack the early train not a later one, but bring Charlton Dan some clean pants for accidents.

Tue Sep 30 Crystal Palace 19:45 Away

Tue Jan 27 Crystal Palace 19:45 Home Liberal or Cons club from midday who is up for it
  • I quite like the look of the local midweek games, going to be cracking atmospheres at them

Norwich v Ipswich will be a midday sunday without a doubt, has been for years.
Swansea v Cardiff will probably be 8am on a Monday, you can only go to the game on official coaches, you get your match ticket at the ground and you have to take your nan.
Also i think that having our games against Palace midweek is definitely better than having them at midday on saturday/sunday.
