Was it really that prevalent in the 70s and before?
I can think of several players who have come to Charlton since then from those clubs - plus one manager. Including Alex Dyer, David Whyte, Alan Macleary, we tried to sign Tim Cahill. Did we re-sign Paul Williams from Palace? I'm pretty sure we also re-signed Paul Mortimer from Palace too. Going the other way was John Humphrey (then we re-signed him). I remember Millwall signing Jamie Moralee from Palace (after they turned down Stan Collymore). I'm sure there are others.
Curbs attempted to buy Chrtis Malkin in March 1996. A fee was agreed with Millwall for 400k, however he failed the medical due to a knee injury and the deal was called off. Curbs did by another forward in the end for the same amount and that was Bradley Allen from QPR. It was the season when we lost to Palce in the play-offs.
Jamie Stuart, after he was sacked by Curbs ..... was signed by Millwall.
Micky Bennet played for them after leaving us.
Mark McCammon , too.
And going back a bit: Charlton maestro/magician/clown Benny Fenton became their late 60's/70's manager.
Andy Nelson became manager at Charlton after being coach at Millwall.
And Theo Foley was coach there. And Steve Gritt.
And Charlton legend Jimmy Seed, after being sacked by Charlton after 23 years finishing top flight runners-up,3rd, 4th, 7th and 4 Charlton Wembley appearances including 2 FA Cup Finals and winning one of them, joined Millwall.
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]McCleary the only one i can think of, though Curbs did try to sign a striker for £400k. Was it Makin ?
Talking to myself here, but it wasn't Makin. Who was it ? He failed a medical with us.
Think it was Chris Makin- he certainly failed his medical but it was kept quiet....
Millwall knew about his dodgy knee and tried to push through the deal quickly. We found out and pulled out of the deal and very un-Curbs like, revealed the story of his injury so scuppering any chance of the Spanners getting cash for Malkin.

He joined from Cambridge then left to play for Brentford, he signed for Millwall some time after that.
