bent to wigan

edited June 2008 in General Charlton
I think Wigan have really shafted us on this.

I thought the deal was if they stayed up they would buy him for around £1m - not send him back

The SLP indicate that he will go straight onto the transfer list - but who will buy him?

Think this may have scupperred the Fleetwood deal into the bargain.

GRRRRR

  • This will have scuppered just about every deal.
We can't afford anyone new if we are paying PL wages to one or two players.

I thought that was the deal too, but obviously they had some get out clause.
  • with you on this golf , there was all this shit we'll purchase him if we stay up, i hope there was some form of payment cos his goals in the early part of the season for them would have gone some way to helping them reach safety
  • poxy club wigan,i wish them relegation along with poxy fulham
  • im with Nolly
  • more support for nolly from me...
  • I hated Wigan anyway, but I really hate them now.

I thought we had a deal they would take the feckless shitebag?

If only he could be arsed to play for us, he would be great....
  • I think you'll find Mr Murray inserted a clause that if they did not buy him they had to pay us £250k when they sent him back, so his wages are covered for at least six months anyway.

Poor lad, only on £10K a week.
  • I don't think he will be with us at the begining of the season, but we may not pick up a fee for him, as a free I am sure that someone will pick him up, he has proved he can score in the Prem, so there will be some arrogant lower Prem. manager who thionks he can add consistency and attitude to his game, sadly they will be deluded. What really worries me is Faye.

Faye has proved he cannot even play in the Scottish League, is on big wages. So he is going to be happy sitting on inflated wages which nobody else will pay him and see out his contract. No one is going to want him at any salary based on his last 24 months performances.

Oh well - fleetwood hardly going to be the big saviour. Pardew probably wouldn't even play him for a season anyway.

  • This is all a bit negative for me........ Marcus Bent is a brilliant striker and his name should be the first entered on the team sheet each week with SAP building a team around his obvious talent. Marcus Bent will guarantee us promotion next season and he will be top scorer in the championship. We will probably have to release him after that by selling him to Real Madrid for £23m, which will enable us to sustain a comfortable position in the Premiership. Marcus Bent will go down in Charlton's folklore as a legend. Amen

But one thing Im not sure about is why Tottenham want to return him back to Charlton.....?
  • When MB signed he was our highest earning player ever - so I'd imagine he is on more than 10k per week.
  • Yeah prem wages probably start at £20K A WEEK....
  • will someone please edit the title of this, I keep thinking he's gone back....

    :D
  • I really can't see what we're all worried about. He'll be gone before the start of the season albeit maybe for slightly less than we oroginally anticipated or, who know, maybe more.
  • Hull City, show us your money ..........

    ;o)
