it was only in the 80's they were gates of 14,000 they are not a big club at all I pains me to say it but they are pobably in terms of hardcore fanbase the forth biggest club in London behind Spurs,West Ham and Arsenal
I know you would break the bank to go, but i cant help but feel that UEFA have put an all English final in the best place possible for them and the worst place for the supporters.
Why it cant be decide when there are 4 teams left in the tournament i don't know.

pretty sure logistics wise its just not possible.
Alright for others to slag off Chelsea, this must be there 7th European trip this season, each one costing up to a grand and requiring 2-3 days off work. Coupled with the price of their season tickets etc, its a lot to weigh up if you have other responsibilities. The thought of being put in a holding camp for 6-7 hours would put me off as well.
Nine hundred quid maybe a lot for a dayout but spread that amount over the course of your lifetime say eighty years its nothing and to say I was there I would pay thousands you cant put a price on being there anyway we have the oppertunity of going to Doncaster next season something no Man U or Chelsea could say they have been too; real football for the real fans
Have to agree with AFKA here, they've had to spend a lot of money to support their team, probably a lot more than most. A lot of the long term fans have probably ran out of money and are going to miss the final.
Talking of big teams, in Europe I would say the biggest 5, in no order are; Man Utd, Liverpool, Real Madrid and the old firm. Any one disagree?
the final should be held in either france , holland , germany , italy , spain or the UK.
Its all very well UEFA wanting to give every country with a big stadium a game but it's not the only thing that should be considered . Transport , accommodation , weather , prices previous experience and prices are just some of the things which should be on a check list.
I find it quite bizarre that they have picked a quite obviously inadequate stadium which isn't the easiest or cheapest to get to yet the millennium stadium still hasn't been mentioned as a possible venue.

I don't think they would take the numbers away that the old firm and Man Utd do, or have 500,000 people lining the street on a Wednesday night to see their team coming home with the European Cup like Liverpool did.
But the people who make these decisions all will fly in direct, first class all the way, will be guided through the special immigration areas, stay in the centre of Moscow at the plush Marriot, President or Marco Polo hotels at £1,000+ per night. They'll be treated like royalty, have a nice escorted trip around Red Square, before making the short trip to the stadium in armoured luxury limousines.
They'll come away thinking how wonderful the place is and not knowing what all the fuss was about.
Whereas the fans will have forked out over 1,500 quid to travel cattle class, have to queue up at immigration for about two hours, take an age to get to their chosen hotels which will almost certainly be completely outside of the area of the stadium, nowhere near a metro station. and vastly overpriced for what you get.
UEFA, FIFA, The FA, none of them give a stuff about the fans and probably never will.
Having said that before we criticise Moscow and the Russian officialdome too much. Imagine the reverse? Russians trying to get a Visa for the UK is just as complicated and getting in and out of Wembley isn't exactly a walk in the park. The underground system here is twenty times more expensive than Moscow and not nearly as well run. Beer, Hotel and Taxi prices in London are perhaps not as expensive, but not far off and would you want to stay anywhere near the Harrow or Ealing areas?

Dortmund averaged around 78,000 fans a few seasons back at the Westfalenstadion and I think claim to have the highest attendance among European fans, with Barcelona somewhere just behind.
As for Liverpool having 500k fans turn out the day after their CL victory there were plenty who were bussed in from Torquay and Surrey to make the numbers up.

I wouldn't class them as a massive club, but I'd put them above West Ham and probably Spurs. You can't move in Croydon without spotting there shirts everywhere, and I know its a lot worse in South West London.

Chelsea have never been a massive club. They were and stlll are the playboy club. They will have attracted a huge number of plastics in recent years. Historically they were behind Arsenal and Spurs but probably above West Ham.
