Our average attendance this season in the league was 23,024, the average for Serie A was 22,597
I though this article by Patrick Barclay was interesting. The critics and many of us may feel that Championship football is pants but thousands and thousands of fans per week vote with their feet suggesting it ain't that bad to watch.

interesting that we got more than WBA who were winning more and playing better football. It was their second season down so maybe not a like for like comparison. We shall see how many ST we sell but early indicators from the expensive Centre Circle Club seats is very positive.
Also a lot of those teams have bigger capacities. I wonder what the median average would be rather than the mean average.
Add this to our huge away support and very impressive I say.

Looking at the lowest attendances ...... takes you back to those days in the 70's & 80's when a decent Valley gate would have been similar to Colchester's today. (Not to mention playing at Sainsbury's)
And of course, we only had around 8,000 capacity (similar to Blackpool this season) when we first returned
to the 3-sided Valley. Ha! the days of 'Target 10,000' ........
And only around 16,000, same as Palace, Bristol C & Stoke, to see us first promoted to the Prem.
Look around you, next time you go to The Valley - we've come along way, further than most, further than we could even wildly have hoped to expect.
Not unless their sisters name is Dolly..:o) Alroight moy luvly!! Baaaaaaaaaaaa!!
;o)
The trick is not to get an ugly one......:-)
Blimey Ohhaah, and I thought I was a "glass half empty" type...
I was thinking about this earlier, and i don't expect we will maintain the giddy heights we have this season, but there are a lot more newbies who will stick with it than we thought, and they will pass on that legacy. Wherever we are in two or three seasons, seven seasons in the top flight has re-ignited a Charlton spark in the local area, and there are families who have come back into the fold. I really believe that we have a far brighter future than we had ten years ago, and we have a new generation who will want to support their local team, despite the onslaught from the greedy four and their paymasters at Sky.
Looking at the general non-Premier league picture, living abroad I am immensely proud when I show my Portuguese friends the Sunday papers, and they see (some) Conference games pulling more people then their Premier League. They really are in awe of it!
Whatever you think, England is so far ahead of anywhere in the world in terms of genuine supporters, we have that, at least, to be proud of.
