1) Our 2nd half goals came direct from Halford's throws - If he stays (which i think he will) we need to use this more.
Also varney got down to the byline for one 2nd half throw and caused mayhem which almost led to another goal. Something mu old man & me have been spouting for ages, esp when Halford has a throw like he has. Get a player as far down the pitch as possible and throw it to him - he can't be offside and it does two things, gets the defenders to drop deeper to markk him and stops us throwing the ball back to a midfielder, who passses it to a defender who then gives it to Weaver and the attack breaks down.
2) We looked a much worse team when iLwelumo came on. Nothing against him , but we were playing positive fast flowing football and pards took Basey off (injured ?) and brought Big Chris on. He immeadiately gave away 2 fouls and then didn't touch the ball again forover 5 mins and when he did nothing happened. For me it summed up our season and couldn't believe the programe notes statiing he had been involved in all 46 games .......shocking. Varney & Gray should be the frony 2 next season along with Dickson and A N other (Mclead, Toddy, Fleetwood ???)
what ye say ?

We was crap when Iwelumo came on.
Cant wait until next season if we sort these two things out.
yo ho ho and all that !!
I like Big Chris, he seems to have a tremendous attitude and work ethic, and i could never once accuse him of never giving his all. He even played out a few crucial games clearly injured, and i admire that. But the truth of the matter is as soon as he is on the pitch, we as a team automatically change our style of play to the detriment.
He has also made more fouls than any other player in the division. A lot of them weren't his fault, but they are still occassions where we automatically hand the ball over to the opposition.
Overall a nice win to take the disappointing edge off, were Coventry doing audtions for the next Tolkien classic I wonder?
Is that Chris' fault though or his team mates? We seem to suffer the 'Crouch' syndrome... ie everything getting knocked long and high at the big man.
Without Reid, there hasn't been that same player to get the ball and start a move, which means when Iwelumo is on the pitch we lump it, because he hasn't got the movement of Varney, or the touch of Gray.
I think he's ok as a player to come on when we get desperate and pump it into the box because he can cause problems (like for Powell's goal) but IMO we have to start with Varney and Gray, unless someone better comes in.
My Greenie Argyle mates reckons he's effective overlapping and getting forward - but can't defend.
Just like Moo2.
At that price I may buy him to be my cleaner
Whether its a confidence thing or he has been told something by Pardew i don't know but after seeing him at Plymouth and a couple of other games he seems to have lost the enthusiasm he once had.
And blimey, did he celebrate his goal well on saturday?!
As i say - just a gut feeling.
None of us are really aware of what the financial situation is. We are not in the premership anymore, where the decision to release players is by and large a footballing one.
There may well be a situation where we have to sell players to reduce debts, or get our budget fully in line with the worst case scenario of non-promotion next year and the end of our parachute payments.
If we need to raise cash, then we have to sell. And you can only sell what others are willing to bid seriously for. We don't know who is wanted by whom.
They are not happy unless the can chuck out a couple of away fans.
On Sunday they decided to confiscate as many inflatables from the Coventry fans as they could. Health & Safety they probably said. Pathetic I say.
Mind you if Leicester had scored late on it could have got really nasty, lilos and beach balls would have become dangerous weapons and Chris Coleman would have got battered with them.
