I think the scouts know about lots of players. Convincing them to sign is something else and someone else's job. It may well be that he looked at Boro as a Premiership club with a very good youth set up and decided that was for him. Money may also have came into it.
He does say that he was training with us and doesn't have a bad word to say. Smart boy as no need to burn his bridges.
