Any one else depressed?

edited April 2008 in General Charlton
The seasons effectively over and the last few months will take some getting over. There's no plays offs to look forward to. There's no glow of automatic promotion to bask in including speculation over how we will spend the £30M. There's not even England's appearence in the Euro to look forward to.

Slits wrists!!.......Only joking, but I've had a real downer since that shambolic performance on Saturday - talk about going out with a whimper. Its an odd contrast to last year when we were relegated after the Spuds game. There was great emotion that night. The singing, the vocal support and the hope of returning were all there. The club and fans were as one. There was great optimism that we would be back quickly. On Saturday, the feeling of animosity towards both Pards and the players was palpable and only highlighted how far we've fallen.

I expect I will snap out of this soon and once the fixture list comes out and pre-season starts, I'll be up for it again but the sense of deflation is very strong at the moment, especially with the Stripey Nigels likely to be in the play offs.

  • It's only a game fella.
  • No sorry, I'm not having that.

The immortal words of one William Shankly spring to mind

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death.
I'm very disappointed with that attitude.
I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'

Like me his comments were intended to be ironic..;-)
  • yes very fecking annoyed here i tell thee
  • gutted beyond belief....
thought the worse when we were relegated , then realised we weren't as bad as i thought and this league wasn't that good either and despite the upheaval we had enough about us as a squad and team to have a real go at automatic promotion and failing that we'd get into the play offs, at worst!
what happened from early december (5 wins in 23 league games) is an absolute disgrace, with the players we have available, it's still not believable...
2 years on the grass isn't greener
  • I was totally fed up after saturday but i had a feeling it was going to be shite. Not fed up any more it's done and dusted now no point in being depressed about something that you cannot change.Heres to next season UP THE ADDICKS :)
  • yesterday i had the hump, today, i'm over it. exciting times ahead. cricket season, holidays, out with the old team, in with the new, pre-season, charity run training, new season will be here before you know it! up the addicks!
  • i'm chilled now but wont be if palace are promoted i will be on holiday with the kids in disneyland florida, but if they do it will feckin ruin the holiday for me.
  • that's the most galling thing if those stripey ***** go up. Mind you it will be fun seeing them copy Derby for a season
  • What depresses me the most was we were told it was a 2 year plan and I could accept that given the many new and inexperienced players at this level we had. But seeing as though Moo2, Basey, Semedo, Varney, Racon, McLeod, Youga have not been given extended runs in the team I worry we're going in to next season no better off. And what of players like Josh Wright, shouldn't they have got him back a couple of months ago, start looking at whether he can step up. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but I feel we'll be starting out next season with a fundamentally new team again. I can really only see ZZ, Boogie, Weaver, Gray from our recent regular starters playing next year.
  • Very Down at the moment, not a happy bunny, football season nearly over (Both watching & playing), No England in the Euro's to watch this summer, not happy at work, only thing to really look forward to is ...I don't really know at the moment...St George's Day ?

  • I could cope with how bad we were this season if I thought there was real hope next season. Unless we get at least three quality players in I really think we will be in for more of the same. Come the summer I will be all exited though..as usual
  • well pi55ed off the fact the season was up five games ago I would have thought we would havebeen there or there about come the end of the season not sitting in mid table and knocked back the Hatton fight thanks for nothing Al. Do two things for next season buy hungry plaers and keep your trap shut because I don't believe in u anymore
  • This is the time when my 'defence mechanism' of expecting the worst doesn't work - when the worst comes true! Even in my more pessimistic moments, I still genuinely hoped that we would be well in the mix for promotion. A really disappointing season. Next year, let's try losing those crunch local rivalry games (Palarse this year, Wet Spam last year) but having the last laugh at the end of the season instead...
  • i will not stop being peed off until i see change i am gonna be a miserable bstd all summer i fecking dont get cricket as i have said b4 i aint even got the transfer window to look 4wd to as that is gonna be worse than the last one

for fecks sake pardew you should be hanging your head in shame just for how pissed off i am then X it by 20000
  • No point being depressed, it's typical Charlton.

You take the rough with the smooth.
Ride with the bad times to enjoy the good times. ( and we've had plenty of good times in the last 16 years)

We'll all be back in August, hopeful.

    My thoughts exactly.

makes no difference ledge they could do a derby but will be 30 million richer, thats the thing i dont think anybody who goes up will stay up and that included us but i would have been happy knowing even if we went down we would be financially a lot more stable.

    Bang on the money DS!
  • Gutted, a season that promised much and delivered sod all. Hopefully come August, I'll be as upbeat as I was last year, but the way I feel now, But I somehow doubt it. Ive really lost all faith in our coaching set up,and for the first time ever feel totally disassociated with the playing staff, and I know Im not the only one. Im really hoping that we can keep the attendances up...playing in front of 12,000 after all we have achieved in the last 10 years will be devastating.
  • we will all be back tel just with cautious hope rather than blind optimism hows things where you are

  • i know we will not fail to get play offs next year, as the board and management have seen how not to do things. lets hope its the kick up the arse the club needs to succeed.
  • thats one hell of a prediction after this seaon Eddickted.
  • Champions

ooops i will get me coat
  • It is depressing that it has all unravelled so quickly once Curbs left but hopefully we've had two disappointing seasons and can now come back stronger under Pards' 2 year plan.
  • i thought you only drank late at night len
  • Its Autumn here, but usually its quite warm....21 to 25C. Its not got above 16C during the day, and what with the wind and rain, its feeling colder than it was back in good old blighty....off to bed now....have a good evening guys
