English ?

Im doing a brain numbing project geting leases and deeds together for a trust. For you legal herberts out there why the f**k dont you go back to school and learn to write PLAIN ENGLISH? just two bits of double dutch :

" Words importing the masculine gender only include the feminine gender and vice versa"

"words importing the singular number only shall include the plural and vice versa "

think its part of Pardews team talk.

While on the subject, when did we start putting the word FOR in the sentance "I got this shirt, free" as in "I got this shirt FOR free"??? "I got this shirt for £20" yes but not FOR free surely?
Is this another americanism that has floated across the atlantic?

I think I know what the first one means but not the second. The plural of a number six or sixes. Someone explain.
