I remember it well - absolute cracker. (It's on the Greatest Goal Video/DVD)

For me though

1. Shaun Bartlett's goal of the season - Just about the perfect volley
2. Claus Jensen against the Arse - world class lob
3. Sir Clives hatrick goal against Sunderland in the play off final - incredible way he stopped the ball, swivelled & shot
4. Newtons winner against Ipswich in the play off semi - balanced shot - a goal as soon as he struck it.
5. Morts against Norwich - the superb solo "John Barnes" dribble
6. Killer's v Hull - ITV's golden goal of the season - the end to end move starting by Paddy back by his own penalty area, then receiving the ball wide from Warman, pinpoint cross and unstoppable volley by Killer
• Mortimer's home to Chelsea
Every goal at Wembley
Killers v Hull
Melrose at Millwall
Walsh home to Pompey
Shirtliff at St Andrews
Aizlewood at Carlisle

They all give me shivers down my spine but I don't think I have personally ever celebrated a goal like Rufus' at Wembley - I thought I was going to have a heart attack.
• Not the best goal ever but my favourite was Aizlewood's equaliser in the FA cup at Spurs in 84. Got carried from the back to the front of the terrace and soaked in beer when he (finally) put it away.
• That was a great day - looking back though that terrace was very, very dangerous.

Probably cos I'm far too old, but there are just too many to mention, maybe because some would be there just for the sheer importance of them.

But I might have a quick think about it and come back to you on it.

Mind you if we're talking about the best ever goal in a Charlton shirt at the Valley, surely there can be only one? :-)
• Man theres been some crakers , Morts vs chelsea at selhurst was terrific and a school night for me meant I did my maths homework early so I could go.... some of the link ups between him and willo was terrific, vs aston villa springs to mind 50 yard pass.....

morts vs Norwich when he borrowed flanagans boots and kept them after he scored THAT goal... Peakies rocket....

I know a lot of these have been brought up but great charlton moments...

just rewatched Bartletts goal... brilliant, very solid team there as well.... I still think graham stuart doesnt quite get the credit he deserves...
• Mark Stuart up at Middlesbrough on a cold February day in 1986. Ran half the length of the pitch, beating several players before calmly slotting the ball past the keeper. Shame there were no TV camera's in those days or that many from SEL to witness it.
• for pure and utter quality has to be Bartlett's against Leicester/

But pick any of The Maic Man's , Motimer, goals -Chelsea at Sellout is my favourite. But Evertone away midweek runs it close as does Highbury away.

No forgetting Super Clives at Wembley when he controled on his knee turned and volleyed in
• jensen at highbury uis class or Dick Tydeman against Hull in the 3-2 win back in early 80's
•
[cite]Posted By: Gump[/cite]Alan Simonsen's 2 goals against Chelsea in the 5-2 win were both something special...
I was at that game. I must have thought it was good at the time because I purchased the video from "Finches" who used to film our games. I watched it a couple of years ago whilst transferring it to DVD. It really did highlight the "rose coloured spectacle" cliché for me, because my first thoughts after watching it all these years later were, that was a poor football performance. I remember one of the Simonsen goals being very good but I can't remember the other goals clearly, I'm going to have to dig it out again.

Hales from the halfway line. I can't remember who it was against but he hit towards the covered end.
Jenson at Highbury was a bit special.
Mendonca’s first touch and volley at Wembley was class..

• No one has mentioned what i think is the best goal, though i doubt that many people were there.

It was Alex Dyer away to Oxford. If my memory is correct, is was a mazy run near the end of the game, that went past half their team before slotting it away. Have never seen it again on the telly, so am worried i may have completely overplayed it in my mind over the years.

Does anyone else remember it ?
• Jensen's takes my breath away everytime I see it, the celebrations after that were immense
• Colin Walsh at Upton Park against Brighton, Jensen at Highbury, Parker's against Southampton and of course Supa Clives 3rd Wembley
• link gone all weird again cos of that you tube thing.

Yeah I remember it - I was there - was a good goal but not a great goal
• Webbo in the last minute v Bristol City at Upton Prk

I remember it from the telly - it was on the Big Match. Apparently Malcolm Allison, then Palace manager. had told the defenders to force Powell inside as he couldn't shoot with his left foot...

Best for me is Morts away at Norwich.
• I remember Dyer's goal - it was good but it looked like he was going to fall over at any minute.
• What about Keith Peacock's Big Match goal of the season in early 60's - 45 yard volley from the right wing.
• All of the above plus some not mentioned:

Paddy Powell's thunderbolt 30 yarder winner against Brighton, 4-3

Any of Graham Moore's piledrivers.

Both Paul Went's 2 goals home to Swindon, early 70's

The then 17 year old Bob Curtis scoring from his own half against Carlisle (or was it Boro) 1967

Killer's last minute winner against Fulham to complete his hatrick, after Bobby Moore had been trying to get him sent off

Kevin Lisbie's goal away to Derby, volleyed from over his shoulder

Di Canio's chipped penalty against Arsenal

Every single goal scored against Millwall

Todorov against Palace this season for sheer arrogance and because it was against Palace

• And, give the boy credit, SuperKev's superb solo hat trick winner against Liverpool

S many goals ove 40 odd years. Loads more coming to mind now. how can you pick just one?
• I can't believe no one has gone for .......

DAVID WHYTE AT SWINDON IN THE LEAGUE CUP.

THROUGH BALL LOOKS UP KEEPERS OFF HIS LINE AND IT MUST HAVE BEEN A GOOD 30/35 YARDS IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME RIGHT?

I WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND HIM STANDING ON THE AWAY TERRACE!
• David Whyte scored a lob against Liverpool/David James in the league cup as well which i seem to remember. Not exactly a great goal but a memorable one for me.
• Shawn Newton also had a few memorable ones, including a header from almost out of the penalty area into the goal in front of the JS Stand

who was that against??
• I think Newts diving header from outside the box was against Arsenal in a pre season friendly
• Paul Kitson at Selhurst!

"We'll never play you again..."

who was that against??
It was against Huddersfield in an evening ko game. It was the winner & came very close to the end of the game, if I remember correctly.
