With all the discussion about loan players coming in, how about those who we have released / loaned out? It adds to previous comments about how our tactics / training / methodology work week on week. What would this CCC team be like?
Paul Rachubka (Blackpool)
Linvoy Primus (Portsmouth) Shittu (Watford) Michael Turner (Hull) Jay Lloyd Samuel
Campbell Ryce (Barnsley) Izzet (Colchester) Kishishev Racon (Brighton)
Lisbie and Dickson
sub: Walker (Southend) Sinclair, McGleish,
Only Shittu of those who left brought Charlton any financial return and all seemed to improve with their new clubs. Although I am pleased to see ex.players do well, I wonder why they failed to make the breakthrough or show their talents with us.

Jay Lloyd Samual did the dirty on us and walked pre-Defoe.
Primus left when we were playing at Upton Park it was that long ago.
Racon is still on our books as are Sinclair and Dickson. Walker is on loan and I guess that there might still be a cash deal similar to the one that fell thru' when his heart problem was discovered.
Other than Lisbie and Kish who many of here were glad to see the back off (not me and Len of course) all those other players went when we were a premiership club as they were deemed, rightly or wrongly, not good enough for the Premier league and looking at where they have been since you can't say that any (other than Primus and that was many, many years later) have done it at the top level.
Also most of those players went 4 managers ago.
I think a more vaild point would be around Youga at Scunthorpe where he looked good and continued to do so when he came back but seemed to turn into a bag of nerves in his last few games. More pressure at a bigger club, flash in the pan, lower expectations at Scunny, different style of play, different coaching or tactics. I have no idea.
On the other hand Paddy was "McCarthorse" to many but is now seen as the first name on the teamsheet. Good coaching by Parky or Pards perhaps? Personally I think Sodje and Magic is a better pairing but I can't fault Paddy's commitment and fight.
None of them were either ready for the Prem, if applicable - or Curbs wouldn't risk giving them a chance.
(Dickson & Racon excepted, of course)
Are you sure? Could have sworn he played against Birmingham at the Valley on his debut
Could be another Lisbie when we play Southend next season.
I think at that time he had only made a couple of starts. I don't think it has anything to do with the coaching perhaps it's just a sign that fans should give players a chance before slagging them off.
fair do's I stand corrected. So bloody long ago now my memory not what it used to be
Player improves = not down to coaching/man management
Player doesn't improve = down to coaching/man management
:- )
1 November 1992 at Upton Park. Played in the next three games and never played another league game for us.
I blame Steve Gritt ;- )
I know what I put it down to.
you may be right as to why players haven't improved (if that is the case) but the point I was making is that when players do improve that is not credited to the management but when they do not it is.
Or is it put down to a "minor exception" ; - )
We had a discussion here in work just last week about which premier league managers can actually be labelled as good player developers as opposed to being able to spot talent, buy it and make it work. Only Fergie and Wenger came to mind as genuine contenders.
My point was that I don't agree that Paddy has improved as a player because he was never as bad a player as many made him out to be in the first place.
Good players do not suddenly become bad players. The Bristol City game was a classic case for me - Youga and Thomas looked good in the first half, good and solid, worked well together. When they came out for the second half they looked atrocious mainly cos Johnson changed his tactics and Pards had no answer. Look at Youga since, shot to bits - what's that about?
