Keep / Sell Release

edited March 2008 in General Charlton
Weaver keep

Moo2 keep

Thatcher release Youga is the future Gibbs might be fit there are also Basey and aswad thomas

ZZ keep (if we can!!)

Paddy keep good at this level

Holland tricky one. He's done well since he came into the side but if we can get a decent midfielder in I'd let him go as he is not the future

Toddy keep if medical outlook ok

Ambrose keep frustrating but does seem involved in our better moves

Varney keep

Thomas keep unless we get an offer for silly money ala Reid

Iwelumo keep offers physical presence and commitment

Gibbs Keep if medical prognosis good

Sam Keep this has been his first proper season hopefully with experience we'll see some end product

Gray sell or release if Toddy is fit otherwise keep

Bougherra keep

Semedo keep

Fortune keep (I know a lot of people don't like him but in many ways for me he's our best central defender and doesn't throw his toys)

Youga Keep

Dickson Keep

Basey keep

Sankofa release although I don't think he is that bad

I've probably missed a few but of the loan players Sam Sodje is the only one I might want permanently jury still out on Lita

Comments

  • i'd keep thatcher and release basey and sam ( i don't rate either, just cos they came thru our ranks we get a bit more excited about them imo)
    gray i'd keep as well
  • Fortune - let him go to Stoke if they still want him

Dean Sinclair - may as well sell

Racon - keep, but actually give him a chance to play
  • Thomas - sell, sell, sell.

Andy Gray must have something more to offer - surely??
  • Fortune is in the comfort zone and that is why he turned down Stoke. He's happy to sit there and pick up his wedge and if he doesn't actually play he's not really that bothered. Sell.

Can't see us releasing Gray, what a stupid comment. Just spend 1.5m on him. Reckon he can do it in this division.

Sankofa, like Fortune, has no gumption in him and will hang around for years without playing if you let him. Get rid.

Thatcher will go as I'm sure he must be on biggish wages.

Gibbs, even if fit now, has proved he is injury prone so will be off.

    agree with the rest though
  • completely disagree about sam. hes one of the most exciting players weve got when fit.

Don't see why getting rid of Gray in the summer is a stupid idea, although not on a free of course.

I suspect we will probably keep him for next year, but if we don't go up next season then he'll have to leave because the end of the parachute payments will mean we can't afford his wages. Same goes for players like Varney, who joined Charlton on double your money deals.

This summer may see the board review the pay structure if we don't go up. They may have try and recoup money on the higher earners they brought in, and replace them with players that fit into a championship wage budget. If they don't do it this summer then they certainly will have to do it next summer if we fail to get promotion again. What might sway the board is if an offer came in for Gray or Varney which would see them recoup most of the money they paid out, rather than offload next year at a big lose.
