more comfortable with.....

ahem, mediocrity or dare I say it, failiure..... when the results went against us in the prem I felt numb, after a while, as I realised(slowly) that our status was changing and it was gonna result in a complete downsizing of club, exposure, money, quality of players, the lot..... yet once it was done I still went into this season with hope.

As we splashed the cash and started rebuilding, although as was mentioned in other threads, the heart does not flutter over purchases the likes of big Chris or Luke etc... and I think with this recent run of results the hope has fadded and to be honest its almost a relief.. dare I say it, as the hope and pain is much less...

Its like final acceptance that things have changed and we can now forget all of it and start looking towards next season where we wont be some big fish, we can try and get down to some honest endevour and work out what we really need to get out of this division.....

Im not meaning to be controversial but I think we can stop now and reassess properly and start planning for next year...

Anyone feel the same or am I just mad...

I think that the problem could be that we have brought too many players from the leagues below our current one. One or two wouldn't be a problem, we should be buying players at least from the Championship or from above. The team will find its own level in this league and at the moment it does look like a team that will be going up next season.
  • im hopeful for next season....

i feel though this run and this result has finally burst the bubble of ,we deserve this and weve been in the prem for this length of time, and all the bulls**t.....

I feel next year we will be afresh with no baggage from past eras and past mistakes and free of it, if im honest......

and ill be there in spirit again, from afar as usual...

Don't think you're mad at all, it's very realistic. I resigned myself to life in this division next year ages ago and I'm not worried about it now.

What does continue to bother me though is this contradiciton between Pardoo talking about a 2-year plan and him getting a load of panic loans in at the same time.

The jury was out on Pardoo already and that's not changing.
  • Just getting weary of Pardews positive slant on the defeats, he is like a stuck record at the moment....I dont think we will be going anywhere soon....question...how do we rid ourselves of the Champagne Charlie attitude. We need good honest committed grafters to get us out of this league.
  • i agree with you tell, i cant stand all this we were unlucky, we need a break, we dominated the game etc etc.

I really dont like the amount of time pardew spends in the press talking us up, the players all seem to be taking it up now as well, ambrose holland and sodje to name but a few.

We need to get our heads down now and work hard to get in that playoff place because at the moment it doesn't look like its gonna happen
