OK Peter Varney is off for "personal reasons" whatever that means. Right then.....here it comes. After the non event which was the financial review, I wonder if the board and CEO had a different view of what was required or the final outcome or direction club was heading. Did Peter try to get significant investment and after failure or rejection by board feel that "he had taken club as far as he could" ? OK............What say you /

I say it's bollox and quite insulting to Peter IMO. Read the SLP article for what the personal reasons are.
As for the "non-event" of the financial review I would have thought £14m was quite an "event" and a long way from a "failure"
I'll tell the directors who put the money in - the two chairmen coughed up £4m each - and Peter that it was a failure and a non-event. Sure it will make their day after seeing their team lose at Ipswich : - (
And yes, I'm in a bad mood after the result which is why this is such a curt reply.
OK we're all a bit Curt : - )
I think when someone mentions that their dad died the day before he was due to retire (which I would guess would be at the back of anyone's mind when they reach their mid-fifties), that he has a new grandaughter and wants a break from a very strenuous job then we should all just accept that they are valid reasons.
We can all "read between the lines" as much as we like and come up with fanciful ideas but that doesn''t make them true. By giving notice and saying he'll hang around to help the new person settle in doesn't sound like a major falling out with the board or any other sinister reason to me.
I do not believe this myself because why would you sack a manager who is doing so well but then again my old man said this guy doesnt come across as the type of person to sh*t stir.
Brilliant.
as i said i dont really believe it myself but him leaving did seem to come out the blue
Heard this from the bloke in Downham B&Q who sold him the step ladder Dennis Wise uses get over the hedge when they team up for their nocturnal lawn based frolicking.
Reckon that should have its own thread.
Anyone know why?
