Osei Sankofa the forgotten man

edited March 2008 in General Charlton
Am I alone in thinking he has been unlucky not to really get a look in this season?

Moo2 started well, got injured and on his return displayed defensive weaknesses. Instead of Osei Pards got Danny Mills in who, until he completely went off his trolley, did a decent job so fair enough on that score.

Osei did a reasonable job standing in for Luke Young in the Prem last season. I think he lacks the pace to be a Prem player but I think he is more than capable of doing a job at this level given the chance. Healso looked as if he wanted to be out there last season and battled away, qualities that are needed in this division.

I realise that this topic is now academic as Osei is injured but if Moo2 is not considered up to it did we really need Halford whose form has been patchy?

I reckon Osei could do what he does other than long throws.

Disclaimer: This is in no way intended as criticism of Alan Pardew as I realise that is not permitted :-)

  • I am not convinced, but then we haven't seen him play at this level.
Moo2 has much more potential, but has been weak at his defending duties- which has been exacerbated by the fact our centre half pairings haven't always been solid.

All things being equal I'd prefer Moo2 as first choice. He has the priceless asset of pace but Pards obviously isn't totally convinced by Moo2 hence my wondering why Osei hasn't had a chance given that he did reasonably well in a poor side in the prem.

    Now you're being frivolous ....
  • I thought Sankofa had been injured at the begining of the season which is why we needed to get Mills in, in the first place? I maybe wrong, usually am!

Now you mention it that rings a bell. I think you're right.

He wasn't injured when we got Halford in although he is now...
  • i had a chat with mo2kill up in burnley and he is itching to get back in the first team, it was quite funny watching him and youga going mad at all the long balls being pumped forward by thatcher and halford
  • The best we have played this season was when we played with attacking full backs.

As the wingers aren't producing the goods, why not dispense with them all together and play either 5-3-2 or a diamond 4-4-2 and let Youga and Moo2 provide the width.
  • I always thought Sankofa was shite to be honest never saw anything about him being too clever may have been better this season away from quailty wingers but not one for me
  • Not good enough is the simple reason

  • *gulps* Rothko is right.

Sankofa looked lightweight at best, put him in now and he'd make Halford look like Bobby Moore.
