Burnley - Charlton: Match Thread

No specific team news as yet but from the BBC:

Burnley v Charlton

Burnley will have Steven Caldwell back from suspension while Alan Mahon is also available again after returning from a hamstring injury.
Joey Gudjohnsen is still banned and fellow midfielder Chris McCann could miss three weeks with a thigh strain.

Charlton are set to be without winger Lloyd Sam because of a hamstring injury so on-loan Chelsea star Scott Sinclair may make his first start for the club.
Ben Thatcher is fit following knee surgery and could come in at left-back.

Subs: Elliot, Fortune, Zheng, Iwelumo, Varney.

Burnley; Kiraly; Alexander, Harley, Carlisle, Varga; Elliott, O'Connor, Mahon, Lafferty; Cole, Blake.

Subs: Jensen, Unsworth, Randall, Spicer, Akinbiyi.

    Referee: P Joslin
  • thatcher! love it,need some evil in that team, thats what been missing.
  • So no Yoogs and ZZ benched along with Varns.

Thatcher in, Semodo in, Gray starting against his old chums.John Thomas back, quickly recovered from another illness.
  • shite man i was close to picking the team i fecking said those changes
  • So Thatcher and Thomas back, ZZ and Varney relegated to the bech, Youga dropped altogether and Semedo gets a start.

I presume Holland will push further forward in midfield with Semedo playing defensive midfield?

Other than that an attacking bench again.

  • went there in the seventies or early 80s night game think a friday, think a draw,we had no more than 200 up there!

  • really think it would be so typical charlton to do it tonight... off in a bit to watch the thieves in the CL... i say away win and 0 units consumed so far - COYR

hope i'm bouncying back from the pub later!
  • Not surprised Sinclair is missing.

    But where's Cookie?
I thought we'd be seeing a bit more of him, especially for his crossing ability.

All you Curbs lovers, do you see that Pards is following in the footsteps of the master?
3 central midfielders and one winger hugging the touchline.
  • had to have thatcher back more steel to the side , feel sorry for varney but i'm glad thomas is in i thought he looked ok against b.city ... nice to see neither sinclair or cook have made the bench .. why loan em both
  • And Sinclair nowhere. So BBC thread start complete shite.

And Fortune back in. Interesting...thought he and Pards were not on best of terms.
  • Had heard rumours Cookie may of been a starter tonight, so may of picked up a knock to not even be on the bench.
  • I understood Cook is not fully fit!!
  • I boldly forecast Lita to open his account tonight, and follow it up with a second.
  • think if he played thomas would have not started, delighted thatchers back
  • cookie and sinclair to start at ipswich to nthn for the poor luvies tonight

  • Hope Cook is injured... still think he's shown more in a couple of 20mins end product wise than thomas has all season

Fortune has been on the bench for the last few matches and offers a bit of flexibility in that he can play across the back.

  • only a fiver, not much of a gambler to be honest.
  • Nearly 30 posts already and the match doesn't start for another 20 mins.

The excitement and tension rising. Haven't they called it off yet ? ;o)
  • what to win or ew? cheltenhams a lottery the bookies love this festival, massive fields are near inpossible to predict, doing one bet thursday as mate going down there.
  • Poor Varney - wouldn't be surprised if he did go in the summer. Would have had out wide.

    At least Semedo's in.

    No sign of Moo2 either....
  • Not impressed ZZ on bench, very attacking middle of the park not goin for a bore draw?
