What ever happened there

Was we not going to re try for his Visa or work permit?

Did we ?

Comments

  • nit sure but we could do with him now , bit thin on the ground for wingers
  • Remember this goal from Bolanos:

The commentator is quality, singing away to that Santana tune.
  • He signed for a Danish side (unfortunately) last year. Easier to get a work permit.

    Its in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Bolaños
  • I seem to remember reading that we "placed" him with one of our affiliate clubs (a bit like we're doing with the Ivory Coast boys).
  • Thought so too F-Blocker
  • I hope so - It would be good to see him given another chance.

Can anyone confirm if we have placed him?

Anything to get rid of Ambrose and Sam would be fantastic in my eyes

    Ha ha ha.

    What a very silly comment.
  • "What a very silly comment. "

Why, tell me what he achieves on a weekly basis.

Let me sum up my loathing for the chap
1 - He has no pace
2 - He has no strength
3 - He rarely beats the first man from his corners
4 - His dead ball delivery is pants
5 - He is worse at tackling than Rommedahl
6 - He is never talking to players around him on the pitch
7 - He is not at all defensively minded (hence the RB having to work twice as hard)

The most irritating thing with this guy is that he does have talent. That's why he seems to score some vital goals. He is just too erratic and infuriating. His best position is just off the striker(s) and ZZ is better at it than him.

Thats why he "seems" to score vital goals? There is no "seems" about it. He does score vital goals.

I agree on his corners and i think somebody else should take them with him being on the edge of the box as he has the best shot out of all of our players. Maybe he doesnt fly into tackles and run back 90 yards and chase balls down. So what? Is that his job? Is that what he is being told to do?

If you watch the game then you will see that almost everything good we do goes through him and we would be in a far worse position without his 9 goals (and similar number of assists i'd argue) this season. How do you know he doesnt talk to other players? I don't think i can hear any of the players talking to each other.

I think people think to be a decent footballer you need to run around like a headless chicken.

Anyway, keep slating him as usually when it happens he scores the game after.

  • For the record, I don't rate Ambrose either. He's too inconsistent.

    Compared to who?

ZZ who he has score the same amount of goals as?

    Sam?

Thomas? Who has scored aboslutely no goals?

    What do you propose?
  • I'm amazed at what i read there. Ambrose's goals alone have won us how many points.

I do agree on his corners though
  • I have been the biggest critic of Sharron in the last 9 months however I have held my hands up and said we have a lot more players not pulling their weight since xmas than Sharron

Ambrose has been one of the few reasons we are still in the playoff zone and i reckon that he will score tonight
  • I've said it before - wingers/ wide players/ flair players are by their very nature inconsistent in almost every case. Even Ryan Giggs has quiet/ off games. Christiano Ronaldo is about the only exception!
  • I can understand people disliking him because he's infuriating. He's obviously incredibly talented, he just hardly ever shows it. Never beats anybody. Doesn't give us any width on the right. Never crosses the ball.

And worst of all, when we're losing, he hides A LOT. It's like playing with ten men.

Much like at Blackpool when we were 2-0 down?

    Or Watford when 1-0 down?

Or West Brom in the cup when we were 2-0 down?

I know i'm defending him to the hilt but i just don't understand how our top scorer (after tonight) can be slated?! Especially when there is nobody to replace him, his goals and his assists.

Moving the thread back to Bolanos, there was talk of farming him out to one of the "feeder clubs" but it never happened and it went quiet. Its interesting that no other prem club has subsequently tried to get him and engineeer a work permit, aftert all most other teams seem to have very little difficulty with getting them on appeal.
  • I appreciate his goals and supposed 'assists' (I don't remember any), and I don't think he should be dropped. It's just infuriating that he plays to about 10% of his potential. We would be a much better side if he showed a willingness to pick up the ball and push us up the field. Or maybe get some good deliveries in from open play. But he doesn't do anything but poach.

  • His corners are mixed - but we have scored from several of them in 2008.
Considering we went from Jan 2006 to Nov 2007 without scoring a single goal from a corner that is some improvement. Other than that I think that in the absence of Reid, Ambrose is the only effective creative player we have, one of the first names on the team sheet for me. Semedo would be another!
