Clubbing in Burnley

edited March 2008 in General Charlton
For the intrepid 200 going to Burnley and intending to turn the trip into a Blackpool type party night,
Burnley has a lively nightlife, drawing clubbers from all over the north-west.

The town is dominated by the club Lava Ignite; other major bars and nightclubs include Fusion (electro, retro, ghetto, house and techno), Calamity Jane's (cowboy-themed), Smackwater Jacks, Isabar, Posh, The Hellbound Rockclub @ Graffiti Club and Sanctuary Rock Bar.

For those Pink Addicks amongst us, Burnley has a small gay scene,
centred on the Guys as Dolls bar (previously the Garden Bar) in St James Street.

Did you know: probably the best-known Burnley figure in the field of entertainment is actor and gay rights activist Sir Ian McKellen,[58] who was born in the town in 1939.

You never know, if you ask nicely he might just sign your programme for you and give you a peck on the cheek.

Whatever the result, you're gonna have a great time ! ;o)

  • oggy, my hero to the end;-)
  • Aw shucks, Ooaah. Are you going after match clubbing ?

After our Andy Gray winning goal, they'll be lots to celebrate in the hot spots of Burn-leh. ;o)
  • On a Tuesday night?
  • You brave people i take my hat of to you
  • Do you all REALLY believe oohaah would be spotted at an away game????? :o)
  • Ooaah goes for the clubbing & night life.

    That's why you won't see him at Burn-leh. :o)
  • many years ago oggy many years.... hope you survived the floods down in the south west country the pictures looked ugly on the news
  • Cheers, Oohaah. I'm up on the hill, so no floods on my patch.

We've been battered by gales though, all along the coast and difficult to cross into Plymouth because the Ferry has been off and the suspension bridge at Saltash restricted with long tailbacks half way back to Liskeard.

Took me 2 and a half hours to get to work yesterday and 2 hours to get back at night.
Sod that for a game of soldiers.

Refused to go in and worked from home today. ;o)
  • how far do you have togo to work oggster, how long it normally take?

glad the floods aint hit you tho mate
  • It's not so far mileage wise, about 25 miles by road - it's just a bit awkward & bitty.

I live on the Rame peninsula, 'Cornwall's forgotten corner', near Whitsand Bay.

I work at Lee Mill, near Ivybridge but the awkward bit is getting across the River estuary with Ferry or toll bridge queues, getting through the Plymouth City traffic and then from Marsh Mills roundabout back up the A38 in the Exeter direction.

But heigh-ho, in my patch virtually no crime, it's a matey place to live and there's always the beaches in the good weather!

PS: Loads of Greenies though - but ha ha, they lost last Saturday too ;o)
