[cite]Posted By: Barn Door Lisbie[/cite]Give him a free role just behind a main striker in a 4-4-1-1
Thats a luxury we cant afford. He's simply not consistent or good enough to justify it. I know Ipswich and Blackpool at home but I am sorry taking the season as a whole hes a disappointment.
Do any of our strikers justify their positions at the moment though?
Maybe playing Ambrose in a more advanced role would bring the best out of him more consistanly.
[cite]Posted By: Chris_from_Sidcup[/cite]Then brings Cook on for Thomas who looked dangerous at times.
To be fair I thought Cook looked the most dangerous of all the wide men yesterday, and he actually seems to know how to put a decent cross in. Also, Thomas was limping as he walked off, so it may have been a forced substitution.
On the subject of Ambrose, he reminds me of Bradley Allen. Lots of technique and potential, but a lack of strength and pace means he frustrates more than he delivers.
Allen used to have a great first touch but never had the strength to hold a defender off, he also used to make runs into the right areas, but because he was so slow he'd get beating to the ball by any old 6'3" lumbering centre back. His legs would be going frantically as he ran, but he just wasn't moving very fast. That's how Ambrose runs, so when he tries to take someone on he can't get away from them once he's beaten them. Also, Ambrose lack of strength means he gets knocked off the ball easily as well.
The Blackpool game best sums up Ambrose for me. He scores 2 goals to get us back in the match, but as he was playing in centre midfield he wasn't able to get up and down the pitch, so exposed Holland throughout the game. As a result Blackpool came through our midfield time and time again, and that was one of the main reasons we shipped 5 at the other end.
I'd like to see Cook given a run in the side, as he can create space for himself and seems to have a good final ball which is something we've lacked for a long time. We finally have a creative player that we don't have to worry about playing in a 5 man midfield or play in a position he doesn't like, to get the best out of him.
Although he didn't have a great first half, I assumed that he was subbed because of a knock rather than tactically. After all Semedo was so poor, he must have been the obvious choice to be replaced by ZZ.
I think he should have brought on Cook or Varney to play wide instead of ZZ if Ambrose was injured. I think we would have been more likely to create from the right then.

I think everyone agrees that going forward he definitely offers something, defensively he's a liability.
