hey i'm not too sure about the heinous bit. i live in sheffield now and it's pretty good really if you can ignore the local football.
i remember going to Barnsley (Oakwell) in the ice. it was the one and only time iv'e took my mrs and she vowed never to go again. that was about 15 years ago and never has since (and it was 0-0). chesterfield this week reminded me of the old stand at Blackburn (ewood Park) with all wooden and also to Bradford (Odsall) with it's high mud banks around the speedway or dog track whatever it was.
Halifax Town, Easter 1973 - and we were thumped 3-0, only 3 sides to the ground and a slagheap behind one goal. Aldershot, lost 3-0 there as well. Dreadful game, dreadful ground. Newport County, 1980 but Paddy Powell scored an 80th minute winner and we won 2-1.
And, yeah, Paul, I'd forgotten Odsall...but we won 3-0 one night in the Cup.

I can remember going to Barnsley and doing the conga on the freezing terrace at the end of November because we were going back to the Valley the following week.
"I'd forgotten about Oxford's old ground. 7/8 different style sheds. It made the Valley look good!! Was there for the game when Robbo scored a belter at the death!
St Marys, Pride Park, Walkers Stadium, Riverside, Reebok, Ricoh Arena, Madjeski. I could go on. Dull, dull, dull. Prefer ramshackle slums like Saltergate and the Manor Ground any day of the week. Roll on next season - Bristol Rovers, Carlisle and Peterborough!
Many, but top of the list were The Dell (you felt like you were standing in a trench), Priestfield,Hull, Barrow, Workington Town, Carlisle, Highfield Road (the view from the away section at least), Stranraer, The Den (Floodlight as many have said), Wolves.....was in a worse state than the East Terrace, Rochdale, Oldham....Id better stop....
Best stadium has to be a more recent one......The Blue Tongue Stadium home to the CC Mariners.....cant think of any stadium, anywhere that has such a brilliant outlook.
Away end at The Dell in the late 80s. The slope on the terrace was quite shallow, so it was a nightmare getting a good view if you were a shortarse like me, there was no cover, so we got absolutely drenched, the loos were horrible and the police were incredibly officious (my mum wanted to go to the loo at the end of the game, and this copper wouldn't let her because they were keeping us back, until she threatened to piss on his shoes)
Swindon away, open seating, pelting down, got soaked through to the underwear, but Steve Jones scored a scrappy goal and we won one nil
Got to agree with MrLargo, not a big fan of the many identi-kit new grounds (the only difference between the Walkers and St Mary's is the colour of the seats as far as I can tell, and they're both just smaller versions of Sunderland.
Blackburn is fairly bad if you're near the front, the front row must be at least 3ft below the playing surface, so you have to stand to see any action further away than the edge of the penalty area.
Of the new stadia Man City is very nice, Bolton isn't bad.
Whilst we're on boring stadiums, I've never really like Old Trafford. Not been since they added the extra tiers on 3 sides, but always got the impression it was a very boring, nearly identical on all sides, box. Much preferred Anfield the couple of times I've been up there, at least there's a bit of variety, and the atmosphere is a lot better than at prawn sarny central.
Selhurst Park easily the worst ground - Last two times i've been i havent actually had a seat I have had a back of a seat but the seat itself was missing...
i think that Elm park had a certain old school charm to it it had soul it was a great place to watch footie, Same as Roker the old Den they were footie grounds.
Shithurst i hate because it has nothing about it but bad memories for me and it i neither new or old in appearance it is just run down shit house
you cant beat old skool footie grounds imo a lot of footies appeal has gone with these same old same old new structure grounds
my worst grounds would includ the emirates,St marys, New Wembley
Watford before they buit the new stands by both goals (even tho I still think its a dump).
Having to walk miles to get to the away entrance around that bloody allotment. You were also a fair way back from the pitch, plus we hardly ever got a win there.
The Old Den Stuck in the corner of the Ilderton Road.(Accept the last night game we played there with a big turnout) Bristol Tovers both at Twerton Park or Eastville.

Selhurst is bad too

Those were the days !
It was that cold I even remember the date.
What was it called again? "
A Goal Dan, remember them?
Maidstone United / Dartford was fairly poor. Stockport County was a bit grim the only time I went there.

Used to do great burgers though!
Loos were a bit of a shock to the system though (especially on a cold day), a brick wall with some corrugated plastic on top, great

The area was a total hole as well, haven't been to the new one, I wonder if the burgers are as good?

Hate the Bristol grounds
I think that has been replaced by Bloomfield Road
£27, no roof, temporary seating and stench of fish?
Someone was and still is having a laugh at that club. Northern Monkeys lol
The old Leystonstone Ground was weird. Massive and crumbling.
However Luton wins hands down ...
