Charlton are offering one lucky fan the chance to be a 'Journalist for the Day' at the forthcoming match with Preston North End on Saturday, March 8th.
In conjunction with auction partners eBay, the winner will receive all of the following at the home game with PNE at The Valley:
-A press pass to the match and seating in the press box where they will shadow club reporter Gary Haines
-Access to the press room before the game, with free food and refreshments
-A guided tour of the press facilities at The Valley
-A free teamsheet, matchday programme and DVD from the game
-Access to the post-match press conference
-The chance to write a match report for publication on the club's official website www.cafc.co.uk
I thought the idea was that they paid you to write for them.
Good experience if you have never done it before.
If it was a comp it would encourage just anyone to have a go. As an e-bay auction it means you have to be serious about it and be prepared to take it seriously when you write the report, etc.
I think it's a good idea. They should e-bay other positions at the club eg first team coach, pitchside announcer (oh yeah did that and it was a total cock-up), Operations Director (how hard can it be?), PLC Chairman.

We then give a list of questions to ask at the post-match conference...

The Bacon and Sausage sarnies are very good - Though you need to get in before Scoop (Peter Burrows) and Airman Brown (cue Rick)!!
Good call
Having seen the guys who do the PA and the big screen the sarnies must be very good. : - )
How hard is it to get a press pass for The Valley? Could i just ring up and say "i am the official reporter for Charlton Life, gimme a pass"
I didn't see any bacon rolls or I would have been straight in there.
