Varney or Iwelumo

I would personally start Varney alonside Gray due to the fact that he has the pace to put defenders on the back foot, which is an attribute that Iwelumo lacks, and Gray in my opinion plays a fantastic holding role and has a great finishing ability.

  • I can't see Pards changing the side from the one that comprehensively beat Palarse. The only thing that might get him to change is if he feels we need more height defensively. However Halford helps in that area and Youga ain't a midget so I suspect he'll keep Big Chris as an impact player on the bench and play Varney and Gray.
  • No brainer, Varney and Gray or Varney and McLeod.

I love big Chris but he makes ua a wee bit one dimensional, wheras I think we look much more threatening with pace and mobility up front.

Agree. Have just posted along the same lines on another thread that I would like to see Gray, Varney and Mcleod on the pitch at the same time.
  • Yes.Have to agree, Varney and gray .(but deep down I m still hoping izzy can make it in this league) .

we'd all love to see izzy make it but imo he's not shown any signs since joining us that look like he has the ability to make it here.... you need more than pace
  • a match winning 2 goals against the scum and you want to know if varney should play.

    NO BRAINER
  • We also have James Walker back in contention although he seemed absent from ressies and didn't go out on loan. His failed move must have been a blow and if we get any more injuries or suspensions to strikers, it would be good to have him come off the bench as a bit of a confidence boost. I'd have him in front of Iwelumo anyway.
  • Not arguing with anyone, but I'd just like to pay a bit of respect to big Chris. Given how we were playing and the role he was given the man has put plenty of points on the board for us.

James Walker was told not to play or even train for 3 months because of his heart condition.
What a shame for the lad.
