  • The place was rocking? Not from where we were standing. You lot didn't muster a single chant until the 33rd minute (I looked at the big screen to check) and were then silent until the first goal. I thought you lot were strangely quiet, apart from the very-scary 'yoot' next to us, giving it the 'nescafe shake' for 90 minutes. The most amusing bit for me was the playing of the Champions League music before the game began. FFS, you are Charlton, not Bayern Munich. If Palace played that, I would be very embarassed.

As for the match, you were the better team, passed well and held the line. Pardew disciplined the team very well and I thought Younga was excellent. regardless of whether you get promoted or not, if he plays like that consistently, you will struggle to keep hold of him. It speaks volumes of the match that our best player, by a mile was Speroni. If we had got the penalty for handball, which we should have, I doubt it would have really affected the game - you are simply better than us. I can't understand if you play like that, why you aren't in the automatic promotion positions.

I have to say by the time I got to the pub in Croydon, the annoyance had gone, and by the end of the first pint, things were back to normal. Losing to you is annoying but doesn't hurt. The worst I have ever felt was when the Bummers beat us 1-0 at our place in 2005. That stung for days. May I suggest you find a team that will reciprecate the hatred you have for us? A serious rivarly needs two participants, not one. and grow some balls and accept that it wasn't Crystal Palace that caused all your problems in the '80s and '90s. They were homegrown.

Anyway, I hope your season collapses, Richard Murray is finally unmasked for what he really is, Sir Simon Jordan and Paul Kemsley buy the Valley and turn it into a landfill and that global warming wrecks havoc on Thamesmead & most of you find yourselves living underwater.
  • Thats funny since Kemsley owns the land that Selhurst is on and I understand that he wants to build on it when Jordans lease is up. Fancy sharing with us at a huge rent ? After all you guys did save us lol now we can return the compliment.
  • MH

What a shame. You posted well yesterday. Whats changed in 24 hours?

You seem to be made of the same stuff as your manager and Chairman.
  • cheers matt thanks for the laugh bye bye now oh and thanks for the 6 points.
  • Mmm. From what I remember Palace's home support at Selhurst was simply superb, with that one block of 20 people singing for at least 3 minutes. And they try to talk about ours? Funny really. Like this classic standard response of "we don't really care about you" whenever a massive gap in class opens up between two sides!
  • Typical bitter Nigel, resorting to the 'we dont care about Charlton' crap when you quite clearly do. Just your way of trying to get at us.

Anyway, yet another season in Charlton's shadow for you lot. YOU are an embarassment to be our rival, not the other way round.

No comments about Charlton's home support from you lot, you average under 16,000 gates at that dump, 6th worst in the CCC, your home support at our 0-1 win this season was pathetic. 26,000+ there last night, must of been a rarity to see a full stadium for you lot.
  • What did not sing the accoustics are not that bad or your just deaf i had lost my voice by the time you say we started singing

Or like some people you have selected hearing
  • nigels.
  • Ah see the real Matt coming out now.

Bitter, twisted Nigel with nowt but jealousy for a better team and Club just 7 miles up the road.

Just remeber Matt June 2010. That's when the lease runs out on your dump of a ground. Then what is your beloved Chairman going to do? He has no other options and his money is starting to run out through poor investments and an even poorer business sense. Ground share at Senegal Fields? One thing for sure, the Number One Club in South London won't let him get anywhere near The Valley.

I'm beginning to like Mr Kemsley.

  • Hang on - I said quite honestly that you were better than us and your team did look, you could see the superior pedigree of your play throughout the game. You are and it showed last night.

A sad fact for you is that it was not the intimadating 'Welcome to Hell' atmosphere professed by so many prior to the event. You lot were, strangely quiet.

It's not a case that I wasn't annoyed about it, I was and I don't want us ever to lose to local teams, but it is true that last night's defeat felt nothing like losing to the Bummers. You may well say it's bluff, but it isn't. I feel a bit sorry for you, because you probably don't know what it is like to have a proper derby, against rivals who hate you with the same amount of passion as you hate them. I doubt West Ham care about you, Millwall think you are a bunch of weirdos and we direct our hatred towards the Bummers. It is a shame for any fan of any team not to experience that.

Enjoy the moment that is so important to you. It is interesting that no one has come back on the atmosphere/lack of rivalry issue.

PS. the last paragraph of my original post was tongue in cheek, for those who don't understand what that means, it means "it was a bit of a joke".
  • Could always build one in Milton Keynes.
  • Addickted - from what I saw last night, there is nothing to be jealous of off the pitch. But enjoy the delusion whilse it lasts.

The lease doesn't run out in 2010 sweetheart, the option to buy clause changes and the price goes up, as does the rent.
  • bye matt bye see ya bye now see ya
  • matt you invented brighton mate,it was to deflect hating millwall, brighton fans are without doubt the most pleasent fans in england ,your rilvary with them is not taken serious by anyone especially the press.im sure your eastbourne loving mates invented you for the same reasons they cant hate pompey! everyone laughs at you, unless your with your middle aged dad or under eleven your not a threat to us,to boot your not a threat in this league.
  • So it doesn't bother you that much you came on a Charlton board to say it doesn't bother you?

    Ok.
  • You just can't take the Nigel out of the stripeys, can you Matt?

" ........Anyway, I hope your season collapses, Richard Murray is finally unmasked for what he really is, Sir Simon Jordan and Paul Kemsley buy the Valley and turn it into a landfill and that global warming wrecks havoc on Thamesmead & most of you find yourselves living underwater."

Loser. For all your mateyness on this board yesterday, you've shown yourself to be just as bitter as the rest of you Nigels in stripey clothing. You very nearly fooled us, you know.

    Sir Simon Jordan ..... ? You're having a laugh.
  • Pack it in, we werent as loud as id have liked, but you lot were pathetic - especially since the JS could make 25 Fulham fans sound noisy. And we were certainly louder than you lot were when we came to your place earlier in the season. As for the lack of rivalry bollocks, i like to think i speak for many of my fellow reds when i say i couldnt give a flying one - id rather be winning derby games against Millwall, but since theyve disappeared into obscurity you lot will do, whether you feel the same or not doesnt bother me.
  • It is one of the features of being in a noisy crowd that the noise of your own, always drowns out the sound of the opposition. I have been to so many games and come away thinking "weren't their fans quiet" and got home and watched the recording and heard them singing up so loudly. Sitting in the East I could hear Palarse fans singing pretty well, on the other hand to say that we didn't sing for 33 minutes is total rubbish. The whole sang VFR at least twice before then. I could hear the Palarse Family song coming from the Covered end, plus "stand up" and others.

We did go a bit quiet before the first goal went in but that was about it. From where I sat there was a lot of noise coming from Charlton fans most of the game.
  • What a strange post matt. Starts off quite normal and then ends with the obvious dislike for us that you clai you dont have. I thought yesterday. we finally had a Palace poster who was nt bitter and twisted. Should have known better, silly me.

  • Obviously those palace fans chating 'we hate charlton' pre match at LB don't care either.
  • "..... PS. the last paragraph of my original post was tongue in cheek, for those who don't understand what that means, it means "it was a bit of a joke".

Actually, Matt - it came across as bitter & twisted and that you are a poor loser.

Tip: if you want someone to think it was meant to be humourous, try putting a smiley beside it.
At least we'll know then that you meant it to be funny, if even if it was just crass.
  • MH

Brighton! Why dont you pick on someone with your own sexuality.
  • I love you lot. Throw the bone and the dog will follow.

Enjoy your superiority on the pitch, and your delusions off it.

    Ta-ta for now.
  • bless trys to sign off with some wit, rember this matt we no you loathe us,and we no the reasons for brighton.
  • Thanks for the 6 points.
  • Palace fans are so not bothered about us they could nt believe their luck when, they got on a train in london and beat up some families ,that they turned out to be Charlton supporters..And tangoman calls us morons....

You sit there in The Jimmy Seed Stand looking at a redeveloped Valley, owned by us, with permission to develop further, taking you apart on the pitch with over 26,000 fans there and you're not jealous!!!! You're the deluded one.

The lease does run out in 2010 at Sellout. And the man who now owns the ground won't do business with that tosser of a chairman of yours - and I can't blame him.

Jordan couldn't raise the 12 mill to buy it two years ago and he certainly can't raise the 15m required now - despite going round The City with his cap in hand. The man is a busted flush and if I were a Palace fan I'd be mighty worried. Re-united my arse.
  • I would rather be a moron than a c*nt

Matt, seriously, read all the comments on your clubs various message boards. I think you are deluded if you don't think that Palace fans hate us. I suspect that this hatred of Brighton is a generational thing, bearing in mind that Brighton and Palace have been in different divisions for years. So it is with us and Millwall. Even if we were big rivals, we just haven't played them at all for years.

I took your final remarks to be tongue in cheek, the thing about this site is that you can't post a smiley so some people don't get it...;-)

As for the game, well we totally outplayed you in all departments except the keeper who was brilliant. At no time during the game did you look like scoring, even when Scannel came on and you had a decent 5 or 10 minutes. The problem with your team was clear to me. Forget formations, you just do not have any pace (except Scannel who was too light weight), either down the flanks or through the middle or at the back. What did Colin do when you went a goal down, brought on the pace of Kuqi and Freedman? On that showing it's hard to see how you went on such a long unbeaten run. I should imagine that most of your goals have come from set plays because unless you've got players out who would have changed things, you just can't get bodies forward enough with pace to damage teams.

Thanks for coming on here and being largely objective. I hope Jordan f*cks it all up for you as he certainly deserves all the disasters he creates and he and Colin deserve one another....:-) (smiley)
