I thought he was passed it last season. When he didn't start the season I saw no way back for him.
Completely new lease of life. Works harder than ever, always avaliable to take the ball off back four.
He is pushing hard for my POTS.
Got my vote last season as he was the only one who put in any effort.
Even in my letter of complaint to the club about the Forest match I stated that only he (and Ambrose) were free from criticism.
Would love to see him get POTS.
Those tackles in the opening minutes of the Stoke game were the mark of a true captain.
Tonight he got a boot full in the face but got up and carried on. He is in the team on merit at the moment for sure and I speak as one who has not been one of his greatest fans.
He's been a real captain, and was so even Young and Reid had the armband.
He doesn't throw himself into unwinnable tackles (hence the lack of bookings and the 'Cleanshorts' title), but makes himself available and doesn't hide.
He's only on a one-year contract - which some cynics might say may have something to do with his new lease of life! - but he must be worth another deal, whatever division we're in next year.
I voted for him for POTY last year. This season he has really been superb. His intelligent play last night was brilliant. Hardly put a foot wrong. He's a leader both on and off the pitch. I see him as potential coach/manager material. I hope we can keep him on a players contract next season.
He was playing well at the end of last season. He has had a fair bit of stick in the past but he never shirks, I think he is a "Charlton" player in the traditional sense, ie he gets out and has a go because it is there, it's not about how much money he gets a week.
He comes from Dublin (well sort of) he punches the air when we win
I think ZZ has performed better since Holland has been in the team. They were both immense last night. I think ZZ and Reid were maybe gonna struggle together or at least one would have to play in the others shadow. Guess we'll all have opinions on who we'd prefer, I've always been in the ZZ camp, think he is absolutely a class above as much as I liked Reid, but Holland the major factor in ZZ form, a real unsung hero, and a top captain. Semedo is gonna be a great player too, he'll have to bide his time for now, Hollands experience is key at the moment.
I think he is playing better than he has at any time during his Charlton career, with the possible exception of when he first arrived and was playing to the right of Jensen and Parker.

Agree 100%. I just love his approach, encouraging his team, saluting the fans at the end. He is one of the most professional players we have ever had. As I said earlier, I hope we can keep him long-term as a player, and then as a coach.
Anyone who watches Charlton would know that Matt Holland is a solid, hard working leader and is an inspiration to the team and under no circumstances would I play Semedo instead of him.
This side was desperately short of a 'leader' since Parker left.
Matt has been growing and growing in this role to the extent that someone i thought would struggle to get in our side is probably the first name down on the teamsheet.
We very much need Matt Holland fit for the rest of the season, because he gives us a hell of a lot more than an individual performance.

I personally think that Holland has found his level. His influence on games at premiership level was, bar the odd decent game here and there, pretty poor. You can run about as much as you like but unless there is some end product, it's just wasted energy.
Since he's been in the side this season, he's been been a far more influental figure. All the time he is performing, he has to be one of the first names on the team sheet only now it's on merit.
When pardew came to the Valley a year or so ago, one of the first things he did was to big up Holland. And Holland was probably our most consistant player from January onwards last season and sweated blood for the side.
He's not your swashbuckling ball winning type and he doesn't go on buccaneering runs leaving opponents dead for pace.
Teamwork is his thing and with his talking, off the ball covering & backtracking, allowing other players to express themselves, and a neat tidy passing simple ball approach - he knits the team together and makes the team play as a team.
I remember Pards saying, as Matty was just about to make his comeback from his early season injury, that a big role was envisaged for Holland in the second half of the season.
We certainly seeing Holland making a huge impact right now.

Slagged him off big time on BBC radio Norfolk (in my best Alan Partridge), a fair while ago- very happy to eat humble pie now!
Worthy captain for the rest of the season????????????
