Strong reserves line-up announced EDIT Monteiro signed says SLP

edited January 2008 in General Charlton
From the OS

Jose Semedo, Chris Powell, Chris Dickson and Grant Basey have all been named in Mark Kinsella's reserve team for the clash with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night (7pm).

The game, which will be played at Bromley FC's Hayes Lane, will also see two trialists line up for the Addicks.

Paulo Monteiro currently plays for Romanian side Farul Constanta. The 23-year-old Portuguese centre-half has also represented Sporting Braga and Istres in his native country and has played for the Portugal U16, U19 and U21 teams, alongside Semedo in the case of the U21s.

A second trialist, striker Moses Ademola, plays up front, and is currently at Croydon Athletic.

Charlton go into the game sitting in top spot in the table, with Palace two places behind in third. The sides drew 0-0 earlier this season at Stonebridge Road.

The official website will be updated with match details after the final whistle, and a full match report from the game will be available on Thursday.

Charlton: Randolph, Semedo, Powell, Racon, A Thomas, Monteiro, Basey, Yussuff, Dickson, Ademola, Wagstaff. Subs: Long, Elliot, Uchechi, Shelvey, Lozano-Calderon.

Right, I'm off to Hayes Lane then.

    From the OS:

Neither Charlton nor Crystal Palace reserves could again break the deadlock as the two clubs' second XIs shared a second 0-0 draw of the season on Wednesday night.

Addicks trialist Moses Ademola came closest to unlocking the Eagles' defence when he fired a good chance wide after a throughball by Grant Basey, while Jonjo Shelvey's header and a Chris Dickson snapshot both cleared the crossbar.

At the other end, Darren Randolph preserved his clean sheet with a fine diving save to parry an effort wide.

But on a night of few chances at Bromley FC's Hayes Lane, Charlton retained their position at the top of the Pontin's Holidays Combination Central.

Charlton: Randolph, Semedo, Powell (Long 46), Racon, A Thomas, Monteiro, Basey, Yussuff (Shelvey 70), Dickson, Ademola (Uchechi 77), Wagstaff. Subs (not used): Elliot, Lozano-Calderon.

Is Shelvey still 15? If so very impressed to see him turning out for the reserves already.

    His best mate is Semedo.

They've played all the international levels together for Portugal since they were 16.
