Was excellent today.
I was most surprised by the number and the noise.
Much better than last year ar Watford. Good effort everyone. Something to do with standing I guess......
Althought it was a fairly decent game - maybe lacking in a bit of quality - I actually thought that the crowd atmosphere seemed pretty subdued, from my vantage point on my sofa!
Dunno if they had the sound down on the mikes but couldn't really hear too much co-ordinated crowd noise throughout to be honest. That said, what I did hear was definitely us. Maybe I need to invest in something with stereo surround sound and clolour pictures, eh?
[cite]Posted By: eeladdick[/cite]yeah sounded good on the tv ,i joined in with a corus of valley floyd road and forgot it was 4.30am ,
woke up the whole family,
heheh - it's 4.30am (well, 4.40) in Charlton and I'm home from Watford after a couple of diversions, almost started a chorus in your honour...
Amazing crowd at Vicarage Road, though - cracking atmosphere, and it had a lot to do with 70% of the away end being stood up for the entire match.
Not been to an away game for ages for obvious reasons, but thoroughly enjoyed it and the noise we made was exceptional....only heard the Watford fans when they scored and a couple of times towards the end. Makes the criticism of the Valley atmosphere seem harsh by comparison.
[cite]Posted By: ross[/cite]never heard the der der der der der der der der der der der der cafc chant before.
i think you are referring to the 'chase the sun' tune. it's the 1 they do during the interval at the darts championship. sounded good & i think it will definately catch on.
as for numbers, 2000 is the minimum we should be taking to what in effect is a derby, even if it's on tv with a dodgy k/o time. yesterday was a pleasant surprise that we did that.

Too right, as I'm a plastic that had to work last night I couldn't even watch the whole thing on TV and left at 77 minutes wondering how on earth we were a goal down. QPR, Watford, Palarse, Colchester all those games we should be taking around that number as they are not tough to get to and with a decent away support it really does help the team out.
Could to see the next generation of Addicks at the match - Ithink I was the oldest there!
BTW - did I hear a slightly different version of 'we are the charlton boyz' starting with 'Hello/Hello - we are the charlton boyz' as I have always sung 'Aye O/Aye O - we are the charlton boys. The Hello version does sound rather.....non butch?
AS for the match - Big Chris should not be in the starting 11 although he should start thinking about changing his position to central defender. Ambrose was day dreaming all the match, apart from when he scored - you can see he doesnt like being out on the wing. Other than that bit of critism, I think we played well and deserved to take the 3 points - well that's what the Watford fans were saying and I agree with that. And what's all this singing about Chris Dickson....? He is not the best thing since sliced bread - another missed opportunity on a one-on-one went begging.
If ever there was a case for Standing improving atmostpheres at games this game was it. Huge group in front of us sat the entire game & did not hear a peep out of them all game. Everyone around us & behind us all standing & singing all game. We even got a few Bouncy Bouncy's going which you cannot do sitting down.
It surprised me that so many were sitting down everyone in front of me was standing, and I wanted to stand obviously, but got loads of abuse to sit darn, bit crap though when you can't see a bloody thing if you do, just moved after a couple of minutes didn't want to argue. Funny thing it wasn't kids and families behind me, and before the kick-off they were all standing. Had a lot of kids around me, they were loving it, singing all the songs.
Gawd how I hate the C-A-F-C chant....least it was only done in a muted fashion once at Watford......really enjoyed Goodbye Horse though......what ever happened to knees up mother brown? Could have done that well at Watford standing up as most of us were....
I hadn't heard that chant either and it sounded great! I was stood at the front of the boring gits who were sitting down. I got told to sit but couldn't see a bloody thing so stood and really enjoyed the match. There's nothing like the atmosphere in the away end!

woke up the whole family,
LOL, quality !!
Noticed lots of youth in attendance, quid a ticket did the trick and filled up the away end.
Plenty of punters standing but no problem, good day out & fair result.

Or get off your arse and go to the game?

Nah. I'm not a "true fan" remember!
great atmosphere though, a lot more songs than usual, and singing for the whole 90! lets take it to the valley!

I'm sure Gumbo did my cover too!

Unlike me....... ;-)
Most sensible thing I've ever heard you say
Watford? crikey, they were really really poor!
Maybe they all went to sleep when they turned the lights off??
Great stuff, let's hope we all hear it again at Scunny.
