North Stand Plastics

Morning all,

Sorry, I'm having a moan.

I'm getting sick to death of so called supporters constantly moaning in the North Lower, these people bought season tickets while we were a premiership club, have kept them this season so that they can still claim a free one next year and have no idea about the club.

I heard people moaning on Saturday about Varney, Ambrose and Paddy - I know that Ambrose is frustrating but I personally thought he had one of his better games on Saturday. Paddy, although slow, looked fairly solid and how someone can slag of Varney is beyond me. Some of them don't know the words to VFR, only join in with Red Army and I believe that Football only started after the North Stand was redeveloped.

There are a family of about 10 who have seats around my block (affectionally known as the freaks), they have no idea about Football and randomly shout Hold it or Away whenever the mood takes them, and not necessarily in context with what is actually happening on the pitch.

I've got to the point where I'm actually considering moving my seat.

Rant Over, sorry but I had to get that off my chest!

Comments

  • Mate, no point in changing your seat as you'll get the same people in all areas of the ground. It's not just us though, i'm sure it happens at every ground around the country.

    Football fans are idiots. FACT
  • did anyone see the 'santa mob' at the front of the north lower(towards the west stand) they were all wearing pink charlton hats..... characters

Couldn't agree more, when Ambrose came over to take a corner in the second half he mostly got a good round of applause (which you could see he appreciated) but there is a guy who sits behind me who shouted "AMBROSE YOU'RE SH$T!!" clearly loud enough for him to hear.
We were 3-1 up and Ambrose had had a hand in the goals for christ sake!!

Another bloke who sits in front of me got up to leave at about 85mins, someone said to him "but we're 4-1 up Dave" and he replied "I've never f*ucking stayed to end in my life so i ain't gonna now just cos we're winning"... nice.
He said it with genuine pride too.

I've only been coming to the Valley for about 6 years but it seems to me that I've got more passion and commitment to Charlton than most of the people who sit around me who I'm sure have been going for years.

    Rant over!
  • it's a fact our support(most of it) is far from good
  • Some bloke at the rear of F block was moaning about a back pass when we should be going forward. He shouted something along the lines of us being so negative and not good enough, a bloke two rows behind me kept a sarcastic version of his comments for the last ten minutes or so.

It is unbelievable that people moan when we are three goals up and probably should have scored a couple more.
  • OohAhh - I'm concerned, I've agreed with nearly everything you've said this morning. Including, unfortunately, this.

The mad dash for the exits as the amount of injury time to be played was announced was just embarrassing.
  • lol PITL..... no point anyone hanging around for the end cos they didn't have anything to booooooo about!

I wanted to add this too, I was taught as a young right back to always play the way you're facing in order to keep possession, seems that some people just want us to lamp the ball forward at every opportunity.

and then moan that we are playing the long ball too much...
  • I sit in F block, and there are unfortunately too many people there that just like the sound of their own voice, as they yell at the players what they believe is sound tactical comment. Most of it is bollocks. For instance, how they expect someone who is facing the wrong way to pick out someone 40 yards up the pitch with pin point accuracy when they are under pressure is beyond me, but they yell things like "it's basic stuff Charlton!" then head for the bar 20 minutes before half time presumably to tell the bar staff how to pour a pint.
We all love to think we are managers who just have never had the chance, and we all dabble with what WE would do, which is all part of going to a game. But our main job to support the team and just urge them on. We all get frustrated at times, but when we are winning, why do so many people still get a buzz out of complaining?
Right, well that's my complaining over, I thought we were much better on Saturday, we just got on with it.

  • One thing that was good about Saturday's game at the Llanera Dome was that the fans clapped and cheered some good football. Thomas missed an open goal, there was a groan but then that was followed by the round of applause for the lovely move that created it. OK we were winning the game and playing well but at least we showed some appreciation for good work that didn't come off. And that happended more than once and for a couple of different players including McLeod.

It must do more to lift players than booing.

The mad dash for the exits as the amount of injury time to be played was announced was just embarrassing.

there was a chorus of "we can see you sneaking out" directed at them, yet they still thought it was being sung towards the blackpool fans.
in fact, a few were singing it as they themselves were leaving. as wss said, idiots.
  • You're so right! I sit in E Block and there's a guy behind me who spends the entire 90 minutes of every single match slagging the team and individual players off. We all get irritated and frsutrated and making the odd comment is expected when you have to sit through some of the rubbish that we've had to endure, but not throughout the ENTIRE match! Especially not when we're winning comfortably. Why people like that bother to shell out for a season ticket is beyond me as they seem to detest Charlton. I'm all for supporting my team when there out there, although it's not always easy.

Glad I got that off my chest, again.
  • Totally agree Henry, I had a few idiots around me, very tough to bite you tongue, they did stop moaning at 4-1, but why do it in the first place, if you don't like going then don't go.

It was good to see so many stand to clap Izale off the pitch on Saturday - I just want him to score a goal, it can go in off his ar$e but it'll do his confidence the world of good.
  • got to say the crown and anchor in front of me made me snap in the end saturday.

After Blackpool's goal he stood up and shouted "why don't you fuck off to Newcastle Pardew you ****" - i had to have words with the lad - told him to f*** off to Newcastle. Thankfully did not have my son with me as it got a bit heated but he got the message.

Senseless, Pardew brought 7 of those 11 to the club, they played football, zipped it around, very quick in attack and solid in defence, if we can attain that level more often we will be challenging for promotion, and that football will keep us up as well.

  • The two people behind us cheered and shouted "YEEEEEEEEESSSS" when Sam's number came up to be substituted. They then shouted at him to f off and all the rest.

And this was when we were 4-1 up, after shouting at and abusing everyone on the team apart from Youga all game long.
