I don't understand why some fans see

Dickson as being a better option than McLeod. McLeod has scored plenty of goals in the FL and will do so for us. Dicko is still very raw and may come good but at the moment McLeod deserves a chance first. He hasn't had a run in the team and before the WBA game had, if memory serves correctly, started one or perhaps two games. Today was his second on the trot and you could see his confidence growing. I'm sure in the second half Varney tried to tee him up as he wanted Izzy to score to give him that lift. A goal and he'll be off and running. If I were Pards I'd have kept him on today and maybe he'd have scored. Was good to see Pards though put his arm around him and show his appreciation when he did go off.

  • I havent see much of McLeod (has anybody) and was of the impression that Pards may have decided he wasnt the right material.

Clearly he lacks confidence but from what I saw today I saw real potential and hope he gets more opportunities.

Im sure Varney was trying to set up Mcleod.

I reckon if Pards gets a new striker in then Dickson may well go out on loan again. I hope not.
  • I'm not sure that Pards thinks Dicko is up to it and if soo maybe he'll sacrifice him to help get in another, better striker. If we can get 200k for Walker we must be able to get 400k for Dicko.
  • Dicko's clearly still a bit green and he's still a bit dazzled by our massive stage at The Valley - he's clearly thrilled to be playing which delights us fans, but he's probably a bit too desperate to make his mark (hitting the side netting instead of passing to Big Chris). But he's only been on for 10 minutes in two games, so it's hard to judge. But like Large says, it's a no-lose situation, because he's proved he can do it in League One and if we sell him, it's cash in the bank for us (and Dulwich Hamlet) and he's got a career he might never have had if he stayed at Champion Hill. Someone said to me last night that he's got the makings of a cult hero - I can't disagree with that. If Todorov wasn't injured, we probably wouldn't have seen much of him at all.

While we've seen McLeod improve over two games up front with Varney, and their confidence has gone up a notch. Hopefully humble pie tastes nice.
  • as myself and rothko were saying at half time McLeod seems so desperate to score that he won't move away from the middle area of the front whereas Varney was only too happy to play the channels . Dickson on the other hands looks desperate to get involved in any way and will look for the ball constantly
  • I personally think that if we're going to play two up front, that we should stick with Varney and McLeod, especially while we're picking up results. They'll get to know each other's game and hopefully the goals will follow.
