Next two League matches

edited December 2007 in General Charlton
Colchester and Blackpool at home are must win games, to secure our position in the top six and for confidence, dropping of points against either team will lead to drop in morale, Stoke and Bristol City both have winnable games, Watford look likely to drop out of the top two.

  • agreed.

Minimum 4 points at least. Very early to be putting pressure on results, but if we can't handle them two then we can forget all aspirations of automatic promotion to be honest.
  • It is the kind of run of games that will shape our season, pick up a maximum or near maximum and we will be hard on the Baggies' heels. A poor show and we will be desperately trying to claw our way back into the playoffs.
  • Pards points out we have lost creativity with our injuries, do any of the younger players offer us options in this area? Josh Wright / Harry Arter?
  • Agreed that we need to win but the term "must win games" just reminds me of last season... :(
  • Harry Arter came on against Luton earlier in the season and looked out of his depth imo. Maybe one for the future but not to make any difference at the moment.
  • Think it's too early for 'must win' games and all the gloom and doom that follows anything less than three points - as Vancouver says, we had enough of those to last us a lifetime last year.

Given the overall lack of quality and general inconsistency of this league, there will be plenty of twists and turns over the next few months.

What is more important is to put together a run of good performances that are hopefully reflected in a decent haul of points. You only have to look at where Palace are now to see what a good run can do when all around you are taking points off each other.
  • i'm sure these 2 games will be really exciting cos this is such a good league to be in and plenty of time left to scrape a play off position
  • Are you being positive, Oohaah - or merely facetious? :o)
