Humble Pie

edited December 2007 in General Charlton
I've expressed concerns and reservations regarding the selection of Matty Holland ahead of Semedo.

We desperately needed a good result tonight after two disappointing home defeats and Matty stepped up to the plate with a vital goal.

Only right and proper that I should give due recognition having being critical previously.

Peter Frampton, went to my school. Came from Bromley area. Top man. His Dad was my art teacher.
  • I prefer Semedo as well but I have to say that Matt is a real pro and you'll never find him not giving 100% whenever he plays, even if his age is now against him. Pleased for him to get on the scoresheet.
  • And i can't work out why i have Peter Frampton Japanese 7" singles? but then again.....being a bromley dude?

His Dad was my form teacher!! and atop bloke to! Humble Pie were brilliant! I am still not sure about Matty Holland over Semdo though. Funny old league this, It must be the most exciting league in the country.
  • from the sounds of it, his goal was decent finishing tonight.
  • Peter Frampton's brother shared a house with my sister in Lewisham way back when. I'm old enough to remember him in The Herd.

I still think Semedo is the better option overall but when the pressure was on the experience of Matty came through and he deserves credit for that.

All I can say Len is "Do you feel like we do?" I remember him in the Herd but for me the main memories are around the "Frampton Comes Alive" double album which at the time was the largest selling double album ever. Happy days.......:-)

I wonder how many games Matty will start this season. He is somewhat injury prone. Maybe Pards just felt that he can do a similar job to Semedo in a 4-5-1 and that Semedo could be rested up for a few games because sooner or later Matty is going to be out.

I was very sceptical about him being in the team last year, but I have to say when he got back into the side, he worked his bloody socks off and his attitude was exemplary.

just saw it, nice crisp strike. Keeper didn't see it.

Looked a decent away turnout as well.

  • AFKA, you'll be telling us Iwelumo is a decent player next! Fortunately Ipswich won't be pumping too many high balls into the box, because without Basey and Semedo. we are a very small side.

    Semedo is hardly a colossus!

They will come and play football and I am worried they will pass it around Holland and Reid......methinks we need a spot of Semedo in there kicking people
  • I thought Holland did alright on Sat and deserved his place.
