How about (for people who have got the time to do it) print out a few good songs with all the words on it and a couple of people to give out the flyers to people going into the covered end or hand out once in the ground!
That gives no one the reason not to sing if they have the bl@@dy words in front of them!!!
What do you reckon?
OR
Do what the Italians do and give it LARGE on a loud-haller????? It works for Lazio!

- the vast majority of the fans know the words to songs already, i don't think having the words on paper will do any more to make them sing than having the words in their heads as they do now
- a lot of the songs have swearing/violence content that the club may not really condone, cue the PC brigade and their My Views complaints
- handing out song sheets is pretty desperate and sad!
i lose my voice at practically every game and i'm one of those that can't understand travelling hundreds of miles to games and not singing a word but i think it's got to be a case of accepting some people just won't sing and the only thing we as a support base can do is have those that do singing louder and get the young lads of early/mid teenage years involved at that age (as they would be likely to carry on like that for a good few years and not grow into silent fans)
it's not hard for young'uns to know words if they really want to, internet sites, word of mouth, going to games and hearing the songs direct and there has to be half a dozen you tube clips of charlton fans from every game.
Like someone said on the other chant post He likes the ANDY REID song and starts to sing it and everyone looks at him like he's a nutter!!
But he is spot on! I like that song(Even if it is nicked from Man Yoo!) And when me a few others start to sing it we get looked at like were talking mongolian!! The actions are good to that song aswell with the hand movments!
If you think people look at web-sites like this to get tips on what the words to songs you are wrong i'm afraid because if they did we would sing more then the normal 3 like I said! And lets look at the 3 songs we sing....................
RED ARMY RED ARMY RED ARMY (It takes a lot for everyone to sing that and its only got 2 fcuking words!!!!!)
CAFC CAFC CAFC CAFC (4 letters Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)
VFR (When sung in full voice superb but when was the last time that happened?)
Like i have said in the past give me a night game at Oldham with 300 fans there like in 1990 and we could bang out 12 diff songs with more the 2 bl@@dy words and 4 fcuking letters!!!
Rant Over!
It's all wrong!!!
man united have numerous great songs and i heard that a few of them go round all the boozers and teach the punters the words to the songs regularly
we haven't got 3 songs, that's totally untrue, just because people think we have that doesn't mean that's all we do. every single away game, there is the same group at the back, standing, having a laugh and producing 95% of the noise for the rest of the people. if people wanted to sing, they would. how hard is it to open your ears, hear the words and get involved? we aren't going to change people's minds on this, the singers are going to have to go on carrying the other thousand or so fans.
and if you think hymn sheets won't get sniggered at i'm sorry but you're wrong as well.
spot on too boggzy. can't wait for saturday, there will be about 800 or so there and the same few dozen standing at the back giving it everything (me included)
Football has lost a generation and also lost an atmosphere which sung some great songs.
When someone started a song in the covered end EVERYONE knew the song and joined in and it was brilliant.
Wasent having a go at you fella!!
I agree we have more then 3 songs BUT they are the only 3 songs we sing every home game!
OK maybe the song sheets are a bad idea but something needs to be done if we are to cheer the lads on to promotion!!
Maybe the people who care about this should meet up like MAN YOO and have a brain storming session?
Suggestions??
it's never going to improve unless we do something with the away fans, like shove them along the east stand and make a concerted effort to pool all the singers together, pockets of singers in the NL, East and West don't do a lot to compliment the North Upper from 50 yards away
People who attended the old Covered end only allowed ;-)
Unless you to young to remember then you get in if your dad was there
I cant see why you dont learn the songs on the way to away matches and/or start singin them in the local pubs; I am sure that RoD, Oak and Bugle will put up with a bit of choir practice.
