I listened to the Wales v ROI commentary this afternoon on 5 live. In the 2nd half the irish summariser (Not sure who it Was) suggested that Andy Reid was a bit heavy and that this was affecting his performance, did anyone else hear this?
yep, I heard it too - he thought Reidy looked a few pounds heavier than last time he saw him play ( a month or so ago duing the last international break maybe ?) I think it was Brian Kerr (ex-ROI manager/player ?) and often comentates on their games so probably knows Reidy quite well.

probably a bloke who knows what he's talking about...after all that maradona used to carry a bit of weight and he was crap...and as for that wayne rooney kid, he'll never get anywhere until he slims down...
watched the game, and thought he played well and was running all over the place. it doesn't help his "i'm fit not fat" campaign when they take him off and put on a 2inch thick bean pole to accentuate his figure!
Former Republic of Ireland star Matt Holland has backed his Charlton Athletic club-mate Andy Reid to be a future international captain.
Reid’s performances in the centre of midfield have been among the few shining lights for Ireland in the disastrous qualifying campaign for Euro 2008 – a campaign that having already been doomed to failure, ended with a 2-2 draw in Wales on Saturday.
Those performances and a fresh willingness to take responsibility, no doubt helped by his promotion to captain of The Addicks this season, have seen Reid touted as a future national captain in some sectors this week and Holland says there is no reason why such a situation can not come to pass.
Writing in The Irish Mail On Sunday, Holland said: “As a club-mate of his, it was great to see Andy Reid being touted as a future Ireland captain in recent days. It’s a role he has flourished in at The Valley.
“He is not afraid to speak his mind, either in the dressing room or to the press. And he never shies away from responsibility.
“You see it in games. Even if he loses the ball three of four times in a row in a game, he doesn’t hide away from the play. That’s a special quality for a midfielder.
“It helps that he is articulate and thoughtful when he speaks to the press. He doesn’t give the standard clichéd answers in interviews – yeah I could definitely see him as a future Ireland captain. Of course, I don’t know what Robbie [Keane, current Ireland captain] would think about that.”

Noticed they were also playing him central
