He's the player that creates space for Reidy & still gets in the faces of opponents, closing down, can see a pass & make it, great movement, not afraid to go on a run, supports the front man AND scores goals!
And people think he's crap......??????????
He's our Mr Action Man. We'd be a much poorer team without him. Surely that's obvious.
[cite]Posted By: Salad[/cite]I was calling for him to be subbed off when Ambrose came on, then he goes and scores.
Snap...I declared it as the best substitution never made! I though he was poor on Saturday, needed too long on the ball and slowed play down every time he touched it.
I heard that in China, they only play about 24 games all season, so this game on a saturday and game on a tuesday that we've been having recently is a bit of a culture shock for zz in particular. not sure how long you are required to give players to 'settle in' to life and work in this country these days, but he's only been here 3 months, and has been great so far in his short time here. if we go up and he stays, he will be player of the year for us I reckon as well AFKA.
I think he's great, although not so good on saturday, everyone is allowed an off day, and if he has an off day and we still win 3-0 and he scores, then who are we to complain!
[cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]Sorry mate, I still haven't had that 1st cup of coffee yet. I'll read the thread more carefully next time.......
Wasn't a dig at you, mate. Almost every post on the thread seems to be based on the assumption that people are slagging off ZZ, yet not one post on here actually does so!

No worries, PassIt - at least we've all agreed that we rate ZZ ;o)

If I understood the opening post on the thread correctly it refers to the Bloke Behind Me slagging ZZ off and the impression I get is that most of those responding (including me) have heard other fans around them doing just that.
In my opinion that is why people are basing their posts on that assumption not because anybody on this board has slagged him off.
I think I've confused myself with that lot but you're a bright lad and hopefully get my drift.
Spot on Len.....the blokes behind where Ive been sitting (Courtesy of maglor) have been spitting nails at ZZ and Big Chris....Cant understand it myself, but each to their own
Well I still dont rate him. I base my opinions on home games only though. I just think that he's not what we need in this league. I agree he appears to work hard but I still dont think he's that great a player and I dont think that there have been many home games this season that we have taken a hold of the ball and commanded the midfield. I just dont see what you all see. I watch him and try to work out why you all rave about him, but I just really dont think he's that good. Mind you I think the same of Semedo as well.
I honestly believe that we have the potential of a great team around a nucleus that just isnt right. That nucleus is the centre midfield. I'd much rather see 4-4-2 with reid and semedo in the centre and varney back up front and hopefully we'll get another good holding midfielder in january. That game against Cardiff could easily have gone the other way and I'd have been gutted to be 2-0 down at half time when they were the better team throughout that first half.
sorry mate, but i think your talking tosh for the sake of it. have you been watching another team ?... perhaps thefleet.com ?
ZZ is a world class player that we lucked upon due to his visa situation. Semedo has also been superb for a youngster too. He'll be worth £££'s in a few years if he keeps improving and gets experience in the premiership when we go up.
The midfield needs nothing than a playing together more... Injuries aside, we'll have a strong run in to the end of the season, if we get a good striker in the jan sales that is!
So I cant have an opinion if it doesnt agree with the general concensus? I must be talking tosh for the sake of it? What a load of rubbish Fazza. The last time I checked it wasnt neccesary to have the same opinion as everyone else on a messageboard. I think that Reid is different class but certainly not ZZ on his current performances.
Im sorry but there is no way, at all , any day of the week that ZZ is a world class player. No way. I agree Semedo has done well considering he's playing in a new position, country and is young and could definetly be one for the future as I also think he is a long long way from the finished article. But I stand by what I said. I dont think they run the game in midfield. The fact that we have to play 5 in midfield in an attempt to take control says it all.
I agree it will get better with time but I still dont think he's (ZZ) played that well.

It's a good point. Not only is it a new country, possibly diet and certainly language I imagine the style of play as well as the number of games ae quite different. I doubt they play games similar to the one at Hull for example. 24 games in a season. Nearly half of our season but at least the distances to travel are shorter I would think.
football is football - I don't buy all these excuses for settling in personally, some people I've played with barely have a grasp of the english language and its their native tongue!
;)
I think ZZ is one of those players who doesn't 'look like' a decent footballer, he's quite direct but undeniably he does have an impact thru his goals and assists. He's like an Ambrose with testicles.. or perhaps a Matt Holland.
I'm not sure he's premiership class, nor has he or any of the others in my opinion got quite as much as someone like Parker as a central midfielder that could allow Reid a freer role in the middle, but then who has?
Exactly Blackheath. We are one and all entitled to our opinions...
My opinion is that your talking rubbish about zz. I make apologies for being harsh in critising that opinion, but I wasn't critising your right to make it.
I agree with everything else you've said fella. Sorry to have hurt your sensibilities.

Yeah, having read my drivel again, so have I....:-)

Honestly can't say I've heard people around me slagging him off - which is surprising as there's a right bunch of numpties sat near me....

These places would be boring if we all thought the same.
