plymouth at home has just reminded me of the time

we played them at 'home' at upton park and my father and i spotted two plymouth fans waiting at a bus stop in east greenwich, pulled over and gave them a lift to the ground...we had initially thought they were lost and had made their way to a derelict valley but it turned out they worked at greenwich hospital, though even so they might have been cutting it a bit fine to get to upton park by bus in time for kick off..

    and i'm pretty sure that it was plymouth in 67/68 (on a saturday) and pompey (on the following tuesday night) that was when i'd got hooked on charlton...i'd been plenty of times with my father in the early sixties but hadn't really got into it and again with my mates a couple of times but for some reason 67/68 was when the club got me, hook line and sinker...
