From todays Bulletin:
"Alan Pardew has admitted he made an 11th-hour approach to bring striker Freddy Eastwood to The Valley over the summer, only to lose out to tomorrow's opponents Wolverhampton Wanderers.
"He's got a good manager and a good club, so I've got no problem with that," the current Charlton manager claimed about Eastwood, who was previously on trial with the Addicks under former boss Alan Curbishley.
"I thought it was an even decision for him. The clubs are very similar in terms of the size of their fanbase and their facilities, and the management structure of both teams is sound, so he had a straight choice, but we were a little bit at the 11th hour, so he went to Wolves and I wish him well.
"He is a player who can unlock defences and you need players like that at this level.""
