Crowd on Saturday....

Just had two comfortable wins at home and four points out of six away from home.

Most people back from holidays/weddings etc.

2nd/3rd v 4th, both teams in form.

Barnsley should bring a few by their standards (1200 - 1500)

Only home game we have had in four weeks from Leicester to Plymouth is over a month.

Will be dissapointed if we dont get in the region of 25k on Saturday.

  • agree, though sadly i think it will fall short.

Must admit i've been a bit suprised by the low crowds, can't put my finger on it other than the fact that in the local rags, there hasn't been the usual saturated advertising as we're used to.
  • I'm missing this one... having to go watch the rugby with some Aussie mates who I've been winding up for the past 4 years. We agreed to get together if England v Australia came up this World Cup...

Pain in the arse that it clashes with a home game
  • Doubt if Barnsley will bring that many. Maybe 500 - 700

If so 2.5k empty in the Jimmy Seed Stand means max crowd could be is 24.5k if all the home seats are sold.

More likely to be around 22k to 23k IMHO.
  • whats this talk about being a splitter that you always go on about?

Cant' wait for Saturday. I reckon it'll be about 23k ish
  • barnsley would bring around 500 i reckon
  • Henry probably has inside info on how many they have sold but reckon over 1000.

Them Northerners love a day in the big smoke, plus they have a few down here already, plus its cheap, plus they are on a good run.

Think we underestimate ourselves. We are probably in the top 3 grounds in the division that oppo fans want to come to.
  • I will be there peeps. First of the season. (Actually, first of the past two seasons!). I arrive in London that day, early in the morning, and will head to The Valley once I drop my things off at my mate's in Peckham. Likely to be severely jet lagged. Can't wait tho!!!!!!!
  • I can't believe how anyone can miss a Charlton game so that they can watch the rugby...........words fail me

Have to come clean that I'm another one. Mr Weegie got tickets for the Cardiff quarter final in the hope that Ireland would be in it (he's Irish for anyone who doesn't know), and we arranged a weekend away with old friends who live in Malvern around it. I'm gutted to be missing our match - want to sneak off to it really, but that would be the end of a 20 year friendship and possibly the beginning of the end of my marriage...

So I get a nice Sat lunch in Malvern and a trip to Cardiff to watch France v NZ instead - yuk! If anyone knows any French or Kiwis who'd offer me loads for the ticket, that would be about my only get out!!
  • We will bring about 500-700 as someone as already said. We took 300 to Southampton the past couple of seasons and they are a big side from the premiership in a nice ground (so similar to you). Yes we should be bringing 3,000 the way we are playing at the moment, but 20 for the ticket, 19 on the coach, food for the day, programme etc is expensive for most people.

especially as most of you are saving up for central heating..... :-)
  • I was very disappointed with the Leicester turn out, which was 20k plus the away fans. I see no reason to expect a bigger turn out this time.

So I would guess at 20,750.

Yeah I know, but after winding them up severely for 4 years, the grief of pulling out just isnt worth it.... Looks like it's going to be in a Walkabout as well FFS :-(

will there be a hero's welcome awaiting you? You've kept this quiet!!
  • i'm trying to drag him out.

we'll hopefully have a drink in the evening up town in the next couple of weeks.

I have loft insulation thank you haha.
  • If we don't look like selling out surely we should be giving out 500 or so tickets to screaming schoolkids who we can sit next to the norvan munkees and pierce their ear drums?
  • would like some warning pls :-)

Unlikely to spilt the Jimmy Seed stand while there are plenty of empty seats in the rest of the ground. Cost more to steward if you split it.

Not sure when the school parties start coming but they don't get free tickets anymore.

Like the idea of piercing the ear drums though ; -)

I thought you meant you were actually going to the match Medders- not just watching it in a pub!!

  • Do you think we will have to sit at the seat on our ticket? I only ask because when I went to Southampton last season, I went looking for my seat and netting was over it. The steward said because we have brought so few fans, we can sit where we want in that end.
  • 19,851 Barnsley to bring no more than 250

I wish! Having just got married, there's no way I've got the few hundred quid needed just for the ticket!

depends how many you bring and how they section if off.

If you only buy 2 or 3 blocks, then I'm sure they'll try to keep you in bit, saves a lot of effort and stewards if you're closer together. I doubt very very much if you are meant to sit in your proper seat. that would probably only happen if you've sold a lot of tickets.
  • Missing Charlton to watch the rugby in the pub!!! This gets worse. Lucky Granstand has finished as you would have had a real difficult decision to make if they were showing the Netball whilst ITV were showing the rugby!!!
  • Cool, so there's every chance with us only bringing around 500 that I will not have to sit where my ticket says. Brunello, we have lots of Southern based fans and there might be as many of them as people travelling down. We will take many more than 250.
  • you'll unofficially be able to sit where you like. The minimum are you're likely to be giving will be around 1,000 seats.
