I remember at arsenal years ago, they use to let you buy a pint and you had a lid that went on the top of the plastic cup so you could go back at anytime and finish it off,me and my mate had seats in the arsenal bit and we were getting stuffed so we went back to our pints during the game done our beer and about 7 more of the arsenal lot pints as well!brilliant mind you some very angry arsenal geezers moaning!lol!
even tho we were desperate for a beer, upon seeing the size of the bottles and the prices I declined citing daylight robbery, bad enough £3.10 for a pint of that pish let alone £3 for FA
Did anybody have a beer/cider at West Brom? They were plastic bottles but they were pint (or near) capacity. Carlsberg and some local cider.
As if anybody is going to pay £3 for a bottle when they can get a pint for a little bit more. I thought the whole idea behind it was so that most people would get bottles and it would speed up service. Once you're at the front of the queue you're not gonna mind waiting a little bit for a pint to pour. Whereas if they were like West Broms, everyone would get it. £3 for a budweiser sort of defeats the object.
On revision, I do still think it's good that finally we've at least got bottled beer on sale :o)

Whilst i agree with you, if everyone thought that then no bottles of beer would ever get sold in any pub as in most (certainly in my local) bottles of beer are the same price, if not more, than a pint.
i just cant but think that if charlton sorted out their own beer rather than sign up for a deal with Scottish and Newcastle or whoever it is, they could make a hell of allot more money, sell decent brews, sell more beer and have supporters happy!
Who's idea was it to sell bottle beers at the Valley in any case? I honestly cannot see the point.
The only case for it I can see is the "speed" of which it can be dispensed against a pint being poured. However, going by the comments, its not really that much quicker!
I don't buy beer at a football match in any case (like to set a good example to the youngen!), but if it's the same case as with the fizzy pop, whereby you have to bring your own used lid in your pocket in order to prevent it spilling when you set it down beside you, then you may as well get a pint cup.
A saving of 10p for the priveledge of er... not much.
The issue would be speed (due to massive queues in the East if not all other stands) both at till and via a walkabout dude, problem is they are pitching crap beer at very high price, I might be tempted if it was even a decent lager.
How can they do it at other grounds yet we have to wait for some moron who got sacked from McDonalds for being too thick to pull a single pint very s-----l-----o-----w-----l-----y........
they never have enough ready pulled either.
Lets get some strong beers, get overyone off their nut and we'd sort the atmosphere issue too!
How about the naming and shaming the individual who's responsible for the catering mess at the Valley. I'd like to be able to approach him on match days and let him know what i think of the flat piss i'm served by staff who've seem to have geared up for their job by getting stoned.
henners you are in the East I believe, I sometimes see you from afar I believe. Do you really think its anything like what it should be catering/beer, etc?

You see me from afar? You make it sound like i'm royalty in a special box or something. Next time come up and say hello but remember to bow first : -)
I never buy food or drink in the East Stand so can't really comment on quality of service other than lots of people tell me it is poor.
The queues are too long IMHO but this is something Paul is more than aware off and is trying to deal with. The Bottled beer is a small part of this. Last time I spoke to him he told me sales have increased at all outlets in recent years and that queuing times are down.
Not trying to dress it up are perfect, just think "shaming" and "mess" is a bit harsh but Santa is entitled to his view. I'm pretty sure that Paul will be as frustrated by the limitations of the buildings ie the queues in the East go out into the walkways and have very little cover from the rain.
Do contact Paul. Any polite message will get a response.
Couple of home games ago there was a young chap serving in the middle section of the west lower. He was walking around in a daze taking a couple of minutes to serve each person and seeming to find the whole situation very funny. I looked at his eyes and they were totally bloodshot. Spotting someone who is stoned isn't very difficult and neither is escorting them off the premises, it does seem beyond our catering management though. To me it just summed up how awful our catering setup is.

Agree that's not on. As I say let Paul know so he can do something about it.
I must be misremembering cos I thought we were close to capacity most years of that period, at least before the north and west, certainly the East was v.popular if I recall

I understand making a profit but triple the price of a shop is not on

No more draughts. We simply sell cans of Tetleys super and bottles of white lightning.

paul.ellison@cafc.co.uk is the person to contact as I mentioned in the other thread.
