  • "right that sit then,im standing for election who's votin 4 me."

If you get me to Hull & back in one piece (and in time for a few beers before) you've got my vote!
  • nothin changes thinkin through your gut again.
  • The majority if not all the current directors are fans anyway so why the need for a 'fans representative' on the board? Since the days of The Valley Party the Charlton directors have always taken on board the views of fans and regularly attended various Supporters Clubs to obtain the views of fans.

Out of interest how any fans atually voted at the last Fans Director Election last time? I seem to remember that the turn out was very poor.

I drew an analogy on the other thread with the role of parent elected governor at a school, a role I had experience of. Parents have vastly differing opinions on how children should be brought up and what should happen in the school environment. For example some parents think children shouldn't be given homework whereas others consider that they should. What should the parent elected governor say and do in such a situation? In my opinion you are a representative not a delegate (how could you be a delegate when opinion is divided?) so you canvass as broadly as you can, make a value judgement based on all the information available and act accordingly.

As so often Len, you have completely stolen my thunder. I was about to post pretty much the same point. I too am a parent governor and you are there a respresentative of the parents, you listen to opinions (some of which differ vastly) then you act on your own judgement taking all these views into consideration.

As a governor I am frustrated sometimes by the need to keep stum about things I know are going on, or being unable to present my own view if it differs from the collective view of the board. I should imagine you find the same issues but that's the nature being inside the tent rather than outside looking in. We have a particular issue at school at the moment and I am unable to speak about it. I would love to but until it is resolved, and a collective statement can be made, I have maddeningly to keep my gob shut (I thing I find great difficulty doing).

I don't know the full sp on the Supporter Directors role but it would be useful to see it written down. Do you for example, sit on any sub-committees/project commitees? If so, it is surely there that you are at your most influential as you can help help shape change/policy and then be an advocate for it at a main board level.
