Eric Lancelotte RIP

edited September 2007 in General Charlton
Had the privalige to meet him at the unveiling of the Bartram Statue. Got his autograph in my Valiant 500 which I think he was slightly surprised to be asked for. Lovely old man but very frail and almost blind,

Sad to hear he's gone. I'm told he always took a great interest in the club and was instrumental in getting Keith Peacock to join CHarlton.

His funeral will be at Barham Crematorium (near Canterbury) at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, 11th September should anyone want to know.

Was he the oldest living ex-player and who would it be now

    Sad news. RIP Eric.

"Sailor" Brown is over 90 I believe and is older than Eric.

I imagine following Eric's death that "Sailor" is probably the only surviving player to have played in the first team prior to World War 2.

    Can anyone confirm or deny?
  • Apologies to Sailor Brown for overlooking him.

Possibly only Colin Cameron would know. Where's Airman Brown when you need him?
  • Is it Chris Powell?
