New tv deal to show Champions League in UK

US media giant Paramount has won the rights to show Champions League matches in the UK for four years from 2027.

Amazon Prime will continue to show a game every Tuesday in the UK from 2027 to 2031.

Sky has announced it has secured the exclusive rights to show every Europa League and Conference League match in the UK over four years from the 2027-28 season - 342 games each season.

Paramount does also own Channel 5 so there would at least be the potential for matches to appear on terrestrial television.

As of 2027, TNT Sports will lose the Champions League, but fans would still need it for the Saturday lunchtime Premier League package and the FA Cup.

Wonder how much it would cost for all of them? and they wonder why everyone has firesticks nowadays.

Funny thing is it was the EU that said Sky couldn't have a monopoly on football rights and more competition would be better for consumers.

Turns out it is the exact opposite!

Not everybody. Only those who know what a firestick is and how to use one. I wonder how many over 65's know. I certainly don't.
I believe it is also illegal to use to access subscriptions you haven't paid for.

I remember when taping off the radio was illegal as well.

Fuck'em, these companies cant be in a bad place paying billions for rights. Hopefully more 'illegal' streaming should bring the prices down.

Its also extremely easy to set up and learn how to work. Being 70 years old shouldn't matter if youre shown how to do it.

They're already involved with the National League, should have added them to my list

Based off Nicholas' comment about cost I reckon you could be paying £101 per month

    NowTV: £32.99
    TNTSports: £30.99
    Amazon: £8.99
    Paramount: £7.99
    DAZN: £19.99

Of course you'd get more than just Football with those deals as well - But my IPTV is up for renewal soon as it'll be £70 for the YEAR, and you can include a few more Subscriptions to that £101, tuat I'll be getting for my one price.

Turning into the States and how they split NFL. The Premier League would be better off having an app that people pay for.

Paramount are rumoured to be eyeing up a move for Warner Bros Discovery which would include TNT so I think there’s more to this than meets the eye

Funnily enough, today, the president of La Liga has said if less people pirated football streams, prices would come down. He also said those that watch pirated streams should go and live in North Korea. These people are on a different planet.

    Lolz

If overnight it became impossible to pirate streams, they'd put the fucking prices up, not down.

    Clown.

Shows how thick and greedy they truly are... the worst time to Sail the Seven Seas was when Netflix came along and offered a product which meant that piracy wasn't needed - Said companies got greedy, because they saw how much money Netflix were making, so the likes of Disney / Apple etc. withdrew their catalogues, and offered their own product, which doubled the streaming cost... Low and behold... Piracy has returned just as strongly as a result.

Said streaming cost has gone up further, because of the greed, and the return of adverts etc. Remember... Piracy can't be classed as stealing either, as when you're streaming off the likes of Disney / Netflix etc. they've got the right to withdraw content further from their catalogues... So if you're never buying the product, how can you be stealing it?

Noticed on a certain site that streams sport they keep having to tell people who are based in the UK they will need a VPN due to these companies threatening with lawsuits. However if you want to watch any game being played in this country you can easily do that if your abroad. I find that unfair though of course I realise I am trying to watch a game (mainly just Charlton) for free where others have spent the money.

Like others have said more people in this country will be using VPNs and fire sticks as there's now far too much competition and no way can I justify even if I could afford it paying for all these different subscriptions.

Me too. I went about 3-5 years without watching it at home, a period that thankfully finished with the new BBC highlights. have a simple rule: I don’t pay to watch football at home apart from CAFC TV. I still can’t keep up  because there are nearly 5 hours of English football highlight every week too. How much football can you afford just timewise anyway?
I know it will never happen but if everyone refused to pay, then the terrestrial channels would be able to get more rights.

Makes me laugh when people moan about how much they’re paying. Just stop, watch the free highlights and then find something else to do.

    We pay footballers too much.

The subscription funds Sky et al and we make footballers into multi millionaires when even a decade or 2 ago they’d have been rewarded well but not excessively (if judged over a lifetime of earning).

The game including match day tickets is moving further away from the preserve of the working class.

    It’s really that simple.
