Birmingham’s new ‘Powerhouse’ Stadium

62k stadium in a new 48-acre Sports Quarter of the City.

Fair play, can’t say they’re not going for it

They'll never fill 62k. For comparison I'm not even sure Villa fill their ground

Do Birmingham even fill St Andrews ? (or whatever it's called these days?) Fair play though, owners that have real ambition. & before anybody wants to pipe up, no that's certainly not a dig at our many owners.

    Blue elephant...
  • Think it looks naff personally, all for something different and with a nod to the city's history but it just looks like all modern stadiums with random chimneys stuck on it.

If they’ve got a successful team then they’ll fill it. Not convinced about those chimneys. Looks a bit theme park, like those stupid towers on the old Upton Park.

A shame this isn't ready for Euro 28, as the West Midlands needs a decent stadium.

I'm not convinced Birmingham can fill it though. They've got  a decent fanbase, but they're hardly a sleeping giant, and are the No 2 club in Birmingham.
  • The picture I saw on X seemed to have red seats at one end and claret seats down the side. Who are they planning to ground share with ?

I'm struggling to think of a stadium design, or any building really, that looks so incongruous. It also seems to me that those towers will add considerably to the ongoing maintenance costs whilst adding precious little benefit. BCFC may be getting a new stadium, but I'll be amazed if it ends up looking like that.

If the ground was nestled in between existing factory stacks I’d probably like it but to construct fake stacks in a nod to the city’s industrialism is too on the nose. It’s a Disney stadium.

That will be avast investment in the stadium, it will cost a billion pounds and more to build.

  • Looka like it's been designed by AI.

The fans said to the owners 'We want a new stadium".
The owners said 'You want a new stadium? Here's one with knobs on'.

Way overdone on the chimney stacks, but I assume they’re needed to support the roof.

At least I know now where Birmingham fans get their liking for 🧱 🧱 from…although I’m not sure the history included lobbing them through the buses transporting away fans 😏

It's refreshing to see a modern stadium design that isn't a soulless bowl. For that alone, I think it's pretty good.

Don’t forget the lovely cladding the Hamsters had too. Classy 😉
  • Surely the images are the "catwalk" version, and they'll end up with something more typical of Matalan.

Think they're banking on it becoming the main concert venue for Birmingham along with a couple of visits from the Raiders for NFL games too. Looks to be an absolutely huge investment into the city from their owners in terms of infrastructure around it . Hotels, new training ground , new arena to try and take stuff away from the NEC site, new privately funded tram extension as well.

Design I can't see actually being that when it's done but it's certainly got people talking!

Looks good, and must be exciting to have something so huge awaiting them!
Does make you think, if we were to build a stadium scratch - what would our equivalent to the chimney stacks be?

Any additions/edits to The Valley also needs to take note on the acoustics and noise projection they mention in the BCFC video

Either a massive net for the fish, or we'll dig the entire ground into a 100ft deep pit with 2 massive stands on either side and create an actually Valley
