After listening to Onel's (good) interview with Terry Smith ….This seems to be the new 'stock' answer to questions from anybody - i hear it all the time.

It used to be …'So'…. at the beginning of an answer, but it seems to have been overtaken.

100%.  It has taken over from Yes, No/ Yeh, No before any answer.
  • I always thought it was 110%... Clearly someone is slacking with that 10% missing

It’s worse when someone tails off their answer with ‘so’, then doesn’t continue the sentence!

'So' has been used to relate a statement to what has been discussed immediately prior, and has been used as such for centuries in an informal way - formally it's better to use Thus or Therefore. All are grammatically correct. It is also used as a discourse marker.

100% is an abomination - there is nothing wrong with 'I agree ...'
  • Agree with @WSA
Just glad we have moved on from the yes, no.
  • 90% - I mostly agree with the comments above.

I just start every sentence with "wanker". That confuses 'em...
