I'm absolutely loving the increased exposure we receive as a Championship club - I'm watching every podcast and prediction video on You tube, as I am sure a lot of us are.
This week every single one of them has us down for a a home win.
Normally this makes me nervous - But I feel with Jones at the helm he just fills me with confidence.
It's easy to hark back to the 100s of times Charlton has let us all down but if we are to go to the next level, similar to the Curbishley reign, there was a moment when my pessimism started to erode.
Anyone else getting that feeling that not only are we solid enough to stay in the higher echelons but that we actually have gears to go?

It's the best it's been for a while but if Lloyd Jones gets injured (or sold).......1

Or Ramsay or Coventry . Every team can say that of their best players .Simonsen said:It's the best it's been for a while but if Lloyd Jones gets injured (or sold).......7

I agree. Hopefully we'd be able to cover the loss of Jones a bit better than we did last season. We weren't good without him.Bedsaddick said:

For the first time in a long time I look forward to games without fear or nervousness - I expect us to win our home games and also expect us to get something away. For example, I never thought of Ipswich away as a 'free hit' - no fear and if we played the way we know we can then we should get something from the game. I never expected it to be that comfortable though. Coventry are absolutely flying - but they haven't played us yet! If we are winning 1-0 with 15 minutes to go I expect us to score again rather than concede in injury time!Small steps - comfortable mid-table this season, push for play-offs or even outright in the next two to three years. It feels similar to say 1995-1998 where we were building a head of steam under Curbs - and we all know how that ended!I now reasonably expect to see Charlton Athletic again playing in the top tier in my lifetime, something that was a pipe dream during the last 10-15 years or so.

If he was 2-3 years younger i'd be worried he was soon on his way, but given that he's 30 i'm not sure he's going to be the target of many PL clubs, and also not convinced he'd be too fussed about leaving for another Championship club either.Simonsen said:It's the best it's been for a while but if Lloyd Jones gets injured (or sold).......1

Between the last time we were in the Championship and this time around something has definitely changed about this division. It basically is the PL2 but without the enhanced TV money.
As the team that ‘only’ came up via the play offs we were always going to be dusmissed as everyone’s first choice to be relegated. You can’t really argue with that TBF whether previous seasons of the Championship support that viewpoint or not but this particular season is probably different with an uncomfortable truth that everyone else seems to be overlooking. With ‘PL2 without the enhanced TV riches’ I suspect every other team in the division now has inherent financial issues that Charlton, without having had the relative financial wherewithal to similarly compete (despite the claims from others last season) has yet to have the same problem. I suspect also what we’ve spent so far this season may well have already been covered by the uplift in revenues we must already be seeing. Backing Nathan for whatever and whoever he has said he needs probably has been an easy decision that other managers aren’t getting the same support for at their clubs.Overall, I don’t think it’s so much a different perception of Charlton, other than Nathan’s profile seems to be in the ascendancy, I think it’s a different perception of all the other clubs as literally the league is levelling up and every team can beat another team except our tighter defence has seen us drift up the league as a result. We just need to remember that at the moment we are simply bob bob bobbing along and riding the peaks and troughs of the waves until the league settles down.0

To be honest getting a two page Charlton spread in a sticker album this season is the most exciting thing for me.1

It really does feel like a re-run of when Curbs got a team together of on the face of it adequate for the division with the hope they stepped up players. We are as a club on an upward trajectory and should all enjoy the ride because I don’t see this as let’s just stay up.2
