Well hi everyone and we go again on Todays Match Thread…

Trust everyone is back down to earth by now after Tuesday's trip to Ipswich and the 0-3 win, and today we are on the road again, this time we travel up to The MKM Stadium, where Hull City await our all conquering heroes., they have won their last three, and had a 2-1 home win against Leicester in midweek.

We sit in a very healthy position of 6th after 11 matches, Hull sit two places below us in 8th spot, only separated from us by a goal difference of -4 but with a mirror image of our results to date, they have scored 19 goals so far, whilst at the same time conceeding the same amount, this could prove to be a tricky game, but some said the same of the Ipswich game…

Regarding Team news, NJ said: "We’ve got to have a look at the energy levels and see who’s ready to go. we’ve got a lot of people in good form now and it feels that we’re in a good place." Hull are expected to be without Lundstram, Belloumi, and McBurnie , while late calls will be made on Coyle and Akintola.

We've gone toe-to-toe on 42 previous occasions winning 19, Hull 12 and the remaining 11 ending all square, we claimed a 1-0 win at The Valley when we last met in May 2021, when a certain Greg Docherty was in their League One Champions promotion winning side.

We will be sporting the white and blue away kit in Yorkshire, why not Red I want to know?

Team news …

Harvey Knibbs will make his first league start for the Addicks in this afternoon’s clash.

The summer signing comes into the starting XI as Nathan Jones makes four changes from his side’s outstanding 3-0 victory at Ipswich Town in midweek. Rob Apter, Miles Leaburn and Tyreece Campbell also come in from the off as Conor Coventry, James Bree, Charlie Kelman and Tanto Olaofe are named on the bench.

Kayne Ramsay, Lloyd Jones and Macaulay Gillesphey continue in an unchanged back three in front of Thomas Kaminski.

Apter and Amari'i Bell are expected to start as wing-backs with Knibbs joining captain Greg Docherty and Sonny Carey in a three-man midfield behind Leaburn and Campbell.

Coventry, Bree, Kelman and Olaofe are joined on the bench by Will Mannion, Reece Burke, Joe Rankin-Costello, Luke Berry and Onel Hernández.

Charlton: Kaminski; Ramsay, Jones, Gillesphey; Apter, Docherty (c), Knibbs, Carey, Bell; Leaburn, Campbell

Subs: Mannion, Burke, Bree, Coventry, Rankin-Costello, Berry, Hernández, Olaofe, Kelman

Would love a draw. Think they’ll score but we’ll also get our chances.

Who was the forward not that long ago who couldn't score but one just bounced off of him (possibly off his arse) and he claimed it?
Don't think he claimed many after that.

Coventry on the bench... Carey AND Knibbs should be fun... But the Strikers are understandably swapped

If anything I think CK will get off the mark like Jason Euell did for us all those years ago.

Euelly couldn't score his first goal for us however hard he tried ... and then came Black Sabbath with his run from the halfway line and shot past the keeper.

CK will do something similar with a good goal to kick start his career with us.

Damn was hoping I'd corrected my mistake before it was noticed

Good to see Apter back in the eleven as well

    Apter replaces Bree
  • No McBurnie for them once again... Ajayi starts, with Phillips and Miller on the bench

Fair play anyone that predicted that line up. Be interesting to see how the 3 in the middle line up.

Interesting they're playing Apter up against Giles, Hull's assist merchant. Maybe Giles is less of a defensive WB and Jones sees him as vulnerable?

You know what, I’ve learnt not to doubt Jones.

That lineup is quite fun in fairness. Game
could end up 5-5 and I wouldn’t be surprised.

Assume it’s a flat midfield 3 with no DM. Very interesting.

According to Hull fans they think they've swapped to a 3 at the back. Matching us up?
  • The line up looks very attacking, knibbs and Carey in mid, with apter over Bree. My guess is we are aiming for attacking first half and then more defensive subs to shut up shop after. Has potential for a Rotherham or Peterborough as we might be too open in trying to chase a game.

    Super interesting line up -

Apter to cut in and smash one top left

Presumably a lot of little knocks. Much weaker team.

    Like it.
Out of all our strike force, I think currently Leaburn and Campbell have the best understanding of each others game.

Wow, wasn’t anticipating that many changes. Or for our line up to be that attacking. NJ obviously fancies having a go at this one. Don’t mind it, mate!

Been while since we have started a league game where one of Coventry or Docherty aren’t in it.

Hopefully some if this coming in are chomping at the bit to prove a point to NJ.

Strange team, looks like we are going for it- if we can ever get the ball of them in midfield.

So Campbell gets 10 games Olaofe gets one .. very surprised with that line up .. Leaburn got to come to the game from the first min , never looks the same player when he starts .. and leaving Kelman out is a massive mistake just for his chasing the defenders and pulling defenders away something Leaburn does not do .. good to see Knibbs getting a start .. I hope NJ don’t regret these changes ??
