It’s a tough division and all we need to do at this stage of the season is identify our core eleven, as we eventually did last season, and aim to be in or around the play off positions as we go into the new year. As things stand we are 3 points/ 1 win off the team in 6th place.

    It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Too early to judge. Come xmas & everyone would have played everyone else. Then you might have a better handle on things.

Gaining an impressive 7 points from those 3 games.

With the table being so tight , most of those 6 could be bottom half after the next round of matches, in a division which is notorious for anyone beating anyone anyhow. So it's a pretty meaningless statistic.

With a comment like that I guess you are someone that sees Charlton as a team that’s currently over-achieving; whereas I see the squad as one that’s still getting its act together, more than holding its own so far and with the potential to step up when it’s firing on all cylinders. If there is one thing that’s not working at the moment it is its missing the goal contribution from the strike force that should be leading the way.

I don’t think we are over achieving, no. We need to stay up this season. Talk of play offs is way off the mark imo. This is not a team capable of challenging for promotion. We have started well, but this is a very strong league. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves  …

Some of them might only be in the top 10 because they've taken points of us.

I look at the table after the first 15 games and use that as a barometer for the season.
  • Still way too early to assess how things will go because who we have or haven't played can be twisted any way you like.

Yes we've played 6 of the top 10, but we haven't played either of the top 2, or 3 of the top 5.

Yes we've played 3 of the bottom 5, but we haven't played 2 of the bottom 3.

Realistically with 3 wins, 3 draws, 3 defeats, 8 scored and 8 conceded, we look like being a solid mid-table side, and i'm sure every single Charlton fan would've bitten your hand off for that at the start of August.

And if we’re solid midtable at this stage, we’ll be right in the playoffs mix provided Nathan Jones’ annual slow-start-second-half-surge holds true.

I think 14 games ie after wba at home is a good barometer as 7/7 home and away.

We must grind a win v Wednesday as if Jones doesn't rotate v Ipswich and Hull, we probably take 1 point maximum.
