Union Jack and flag of St George.

So the rumour is Charlton Athletic have copped the hump with people, like so many up and down the country raising the flag of the Union Jack or cross of St George or both and within hours of these flags being raised before the Millwall fixture instructed for them to be taken down, bare in mind not one offensive word was written on these flags, just merely showing support and solidarity to the country, so why and this is a question I can not find any answers to as flags all over the world are allowed to be flown anywhere and everywhere providing no obstruction is caused, so why is there an issue here with this? What are people so offended about, because I have genuinely seen people of all races engaging in this, and it is normally white English people who are offended of there own flag, could someone answer why and especially the club clearly has this mindset.

I fly the flag in big tournaments but the issue is the flag is being used for political reasons. This is not how the flag should be used in this day and age. Yes, show you are proud to be British/English by flying it but we all know that it doesn't end there with some of these people who are flying it at the moment. This thread shouldn't become political and nor should our flag/s.
  • I helped a fellow fan tie a charlton st georges flag to the front of the covered End railings without challenge.

Well, the only challenge was that I said to him that I begrudged the Ranger's quadrant on the flag as I favoured celtic north of the border.

Ok I understand that but isn’t Palestine action political, yet I see flags in central London flying all day every day without issue. This is what I don’t understand and want clarity on, why is ok for one particular but not the other, it seems. The flags have no political party or messages on them, so this is based on assumption then?

Not sure of the context above but you need permission in advance for flags above a certain size for a number of reasons.
Millwall had a St George’s flag at the front of the Jimmy Seed stand for the entire game as an example.

Above is the sensible answer before this thread is closed.

I don't agree with Palestinian flags flying as it can intimidate Jewish people. I can't say I have seen many of them. I have no problem with British flags flying but we all know the motives of those who are putting them on lamp posts. If it was just that we should be proud to be English/British, that would be fine but it isn't.

You've not heard about any issues about Palestine Action flags in London?

Absolute horseshit by the way, but I'll leave it at that

Day after day I openly see Palestinian flags maybe passed demos flying freely, in Britain but a British flag can’t, that’s what I don’t get? And still I’ve had no real answer as to why one flag is acceptable especially as there’s racism at there demos but the flag of this country is not.

I would answer that, and my view might not be too far from yours, but it would be a political answer and that is part of the problem.
