how can it waste time, th ref can just add on the wasted time - or is that too much for the ref to do?
I will say that (in defence of referees in general) that I'd be very surprised if it was the "active'' refs pushing this instead of it being foisted on them from above.
  • Can’t believe he was booked for his celebrations. Why?
You’re not allowed to run towards and “join” the fans, which was why he initially stood still.

The other players encouraged him to get in amongst the fans, so he got yellow carded.
Absolutely ridiculous rule. Even more ridiculous that he technically didn't go in with the fans, instead 50 people come over the barrier and onto the pitch

Also fairly sure Knibbs wasn't booked when he spent a full minute climbing up the hoardings to celebrate his last minute winner against Watford

So why were Leaburn, Doc, Knibbs etc not booked too? Was it just because Tanto was the goalscorer so he took the booking?
I believe (not certain) it’s just the scorer that gets the yellow card.
  • And what’s the logic behind that?
  • I thought he was excellent against Blackburn, I think he could be, you know, decent.

    Offers something doesnt he
  • I think Jones has got it pretty spot on with the Strikers

We almost need to go into games, half expecting to be under the alamo, like what we saw at Sheff Utd last week, so Campbell and Kelman are better to start the game and harry the opposition and use their pace.

Defences then have the prospect of having those two replaced, knowing the battle is only just beginning

I'd like to see Tanto start with Kelman at some point.

Any of the 3 starting with Leaburn. Tanto has shown plenty in his cameos so far.

Great assist, playing with confidence. Really like the lad.

    Needs to start for me.

Offers more than Campbell, and that's not knocking Campbell at all.

I don't see what the obsession is with him starting?
The days of somehow being an inferior player because you don't start games at this level are long gone.

Absolutely brilliant today. Pace, desire, workrates, feeding people. Blackburn couldn't handle him.

    Fantastic signing.

This, it’s not an insult for them to not be starting, would Leaburn and Tanto have had the same effect today if they had started? I doubt it personally

He deserves a start and I hope he snatches it with both hands.

I won’t be surprised if he turns out to be most effective against tired legs. But the only way to find out if that’s true is to give him a go from the start.
  • You only need to look at how much better Kelman looked coming on at QPR to see there is something to this Finisher role NJ uses so well.

That’s not to say Tanto isn’t an absolute beast of a player though. Looked totally unplayable at times today. They couldn’t cope with him
  • Can’t ignore him any longer. Was absolutely mustard today. I think he really scares defences with how direct he is and will create chances that’s perfect for kelman.

Has to be commended for his reaction to a poor performance against Cambridge. Whole team was awful that day but he looked disinterested. This version of Tanto is scary for opposition defences
  • 2 away games coming up I would like if he was given a start. At least to see how it works with Kelman who really needs more support.

I've no issue with him starting but I do think Jones has it right with how he's approaching things at the moment. Campbell is terrifying for defenders and more importantly always involved. His opposite number is in a game from the first minute to the moment Campbell comes off as well as usually a second player who has doubled up on him. When Tanto came on today he was bouncing players off himself, but you could also tell that these were players who were properly battered and worn out. Tanto's style of being physical and direct works better against players who have already been dragged all across the place but I don't think Campbell's more pure-pace approach benefits as much from the reverse. Tanto is also better at holding the ball up, which works best when we're in the last 10 and pushing for the goal against tired players, whereas Campbell is best as an out ball when we're trying to keep things tight in the first hour and stop pressure from building up too much on our defence. I honestly don't think who starts is reflective on one being better than the other so much as it suits their ways of playing better

Id like to see, in an away game set up defensively, tc tanto and fullah as seems they would have the pace on the counter- but im not complaining we and jones are awesome 🤩

There was a point during the second half when the Blackburn keeper quickly threw it out to the left, they had moved past the dugouts and were moving towards goal but Tanto just comes sprinting out of nowhere and wins the ball, insane workrate and pace

Absolute handful today. The Blackburn players didn't have a clue how to deal with him. When they tried wrestling with him they were out-muscled, when they tried playing football he ran rings around them.

Has to be starting instead of TC now - he is quality. Him and Leaburn up top is our best pairing right now.
  • Just depends whether Jones looks at it as a winning formula stay in the game run the defence tired and Leaburn Tanto to take advantage last 30 minutes with that combo offering a variety of attacking routes. If it’s not broken why try and fix it

Tanto was unreal and can clearly see how last week’s winner has given him the confidence to play like he did. It was also nice to see him and Leaburn get a good half hour.

I do feel sorry for Kelman though as he does a lot of running without the game being stretched and he’s partnered with TC who is so important to us but will naturally drift wider. Leaburn and Tanto comes on and we have a bit more of a closer front two with physicality, Kelman hasn’t really had that opportunity.

However, focusing just on Tanto and how we looked when we had him and Leaburn on, it took us up at least a couple of levels and they simply couldn’t handle them.
