Three leagues within The Championship.

I think that as usual there are likely to be three leagues of 8 within The Chapionship with of course some blurring at the joins. I’m expecting Charlton to be battling in that bottom 8 teams so who are our direct competition to remain in the league and who are the teams that will be surprises both in terms of success and disappointment ?

  • Nice question. Is this format ok? (in no particular order);

    Oxford,
    Hull,
    Portsmouth,
    Sheffield Wednesday,
    QPR,
    Blackburn,
    Wrexham <- the one i am least sure of. Maybe Stoke instead.

    I expected Stoke to be a struggler and although it’s very early they seem to have started quite solidly. Maybe they could be a surprise ?
  • Not sure I see it as 8 - think the 3 to go will come from us, Derby, Hull, Oxford, QPR and Wednesday.
  • In reality, it probably should be four leagues with Sheffield Wednesday on their own as being virtually certain to be relegated. They managed to get just one player in during the transfer window on loan and the chances are that they will be so far behind come January, even with a takeover which is far from certain given the demands of the owner, that their situation will be fatal at that time. And that's without the threat of a points deduction hanging over them.
