Woolwich Ferry Roundabout

Just a heads up to those who travel via the Woolwich ferry roundabout either for match days or general travel. Apparently there is going to be major road works on the roundabout starting in mid September for approximately 10 months. The highways people have advised the Ambulance Station staff to be warned of potentially long delays during the work.
Also noticed that the A2 around the Black Prince area is due to have roadworks lasting 11 weeks starting soon.

  • 10 months???? Should only takes a week to lay a bit of pink tarmac and paint a couple of bikes in the road
  • I reckon you could walk it in 20 minutes
  • I reckon you could walk it in 20 minutes
    10 if you jog it
  • I reckon you could walk it in 20 minutes
    Less than that .
  • I trust it is negotiated port to starboard.
  • Given the ridiculous speed restriction on the lower road (which even buses seem
to struggle with) this will just make that route even harder than it already is.
  • I old enough to remember the ambulance station on the roundabout.

Theres still an ambulance station there

  • Expect delays into 2027. Kinda cool it will create an unbroken segregated cycle lane all the way from Woolwich to Tower Hill.
  • I remember the traffic policeman and his little hut

  • I can clearly see the house where my wife grew up in and her parents lived until a few years ago.
I spent much of my time there as well between the ages of 19 & 25.
  • Mr Tatters goes to one of the art workshop places by the Thames roughly opposite the road leading down from Woolwich Dockyard Station. Any suggestions for somewhere he could park and walk to avoid the inevitable delays?

I think you need to be a bit more specific as to what time of day and what inevitable delays you are talking about.

Are you saying it's across (north) of the dual carriage way, the other side of the road to Francis Street?

Yes - next door to the Thames barrier. He gets there for 9 and leaves around 3
